Bass fishing destinations?

My son and I are looking to take a bass fishing trip in mid June. Any suggestions for a nice trip in Minnesota? Smallmouth or largemouth OK. We'll be fishing for 3-4 days and could handle a little walleye fishing on the side.

Leech. I'm biased as it's my home lake, but it's dynamite for largemouth and, of course, walleyes. Plenty of good smaller lakes to fish in the area if the wind picks up, too. If the scheduling works out, I can even show you around the west side of the lake a little.

Vermillion gets my vote 100% of the time. Beautiful lake and any kind of fish you want!

Can't go wrong with Mille Lacs or Vermillion as previously mentioned. Your best bet in MN for a really big smallie is probably Mille Lacs in June!

Pelican Lake in Orr is another strong consideration for both smallmouth and largemouth.

The Ely area is another suggestion. Many lakes in the area that hold bass and walleye. Smaller lakes if the weather is bad, lots to do in the area for meals and stuff. June is a good time to be there too.

For numbers of Lg Bass, Pelican in Orr and Sm Bass Vermillion for sure, two wonderful fisheries.

sleddie, you know I respect your fish on here just about more than anyone.. But there are some decent largies in there, Ive seen them at weigh ins.. LOL... not on the end of my line..

There are technically big fish in every lake. I take the avg size caught based on the time spent fishing for them. With that taken into consideration Vermilion falls way short of other lakes that contain largemouth bass. Smallmouth is a totally different story. That being said, Vermilion is the most populated lake up here and fishing for me is much less relaxing when you have to deal with constant boat wake and muskie fisherman running me off every weedline and rock pile/point.

Couple years back I fished the super slam on vermillion a couple years back. We weighed 22-23 pounds all green. We finished 4 or 5th and won big fish. We were the only team that weighed only largest. So I know there are a few in there.
