captainshane
I found a app that has over 700 bird calls on it. The kid and I were sitting in the backyard and I could hear some chippers next door. So I found the chipping sparrow songs and put it on the ground feeder and pushed play. I hear you... But I don't see you...
katoguy
I like chippers. I have messed with them before, too. There has been a long debate on the ethics of using recorded birds songs in the field. Just don't use those calls on birds when they are trying to nest and are territorial. There are pros and cons of the playback argument on the Sibley Guides HSOforum. Hwood
Captain keep on keep'n on and do what it takes to get the shot. And you make sure that app is in good working order next time we get out!

MN Shutterbug
Is that an Android app? I love the last shot. Some like bokeh, but I much prefer the environmental shots.

ShawnZ
Great photos that illustrate the sheer (curiosity imo) of the bird, as itlistens to the call. Chippers are dang cute too! Great setting for the last image.
half-dutch
You can mess with crows, too. They patrol their nesting areas and if you caw at one he will come right over you looking for the intruder, and then when that one veers off, very often a second and maybe a third will show up in the tree tops off to the side trying to at least sneak a peak. All you have to do is call once to draw in the first bird openly and the following sneakers will show up after that pretty quickly too. They are family nesters that generally include last years young helping to raise this years chicks. You can get a pretty good and raucous family around you with very little effort. They will spend quite a bit of time looking for any intruder, and you can even see them change of duties in the process and search from different vantage points. Most of us have a decent enough voice to do the calling without any additional hardware or recordings.
