fishing opener bumped up one week!

Just read this of the DNR home page.

Quote:
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, along with Representative Michelle Bachmann had proposed and passed a new Bill last Friday which will allow Minnesota anglers to enjoy Minnesota fishing opener one week earlier than planned.

This comes after weeks after moms across Minnesota signed the Bill proposing a change when Minnesota allows its anglers to fish for walleye, Northern, and other suck sought after game fish. The change will take effect immediately starting in 2012 and will only happen twice every seven years allowing the other 5 years to be two weeks before Memorial Day.

Glen Trickin of Head Waters resorts on Leech Lake as mixed feelings about the change stating “I feel bad for people how made plans for opener but they’ll still be able to fish.” He also stated that he’ll have to rush to get his cabins “up and running” but so far has had many phone calls to reserve the date.

Fishing pro David Gotcha of Baudette, MN welcomes the change not only because he can spend time with his wife and family this year on Mother’s Day but stats “It will be nice as the fish should be spawning a little earlier this year anyways with the early ice off.”

Anglers are encouraged to get their license early this year as to the earlier starting dates. The DNR also suggests fisherman to pick up a copy of the newest fishing regulations to learn about the changes brought on by Mom’s Bill and to see what years the dates will be affected.

Officer why am I getting a ticket?

I was read on Hot Spots Outdoors that the fishing opener was moved up one week. I printed out the post and I have a copy right here.

I don't think they would post the regulation change if it was a lie or a joke. They all are professional fisherman and are so aware of the regulations they do not even need a Invasive Species sticker or a reminder to remove their drain plug.
