Selmer
I'm not sure how you'd consume morals. And my dad taught me that I can't buy morals, they are usually learned. Too bad that morals are so hard to find in northern Minnesota - rather surprising and contrary to my experience.

rbs
went out yesterday and got skunked. Every spot I stopped at was stomped down with tracks. Tuesday night I am going to go out and try some private land spots and hope to actually find one. All I wanted yesterday was one so I could see what everyone says I am missing lol
NoWiser
They are out there pretty thick right now. Some of them are getting to be past prime, though. I will be concentrating on North and East facing hills this week. On Friday I went out for about 15 minutes as a storm was heading my way and found these in one little area: They were in absolutely perfect condition! I was cleaning them up when my uncle walked in, soaked from the storm, but with a 5 gallon bucket plump full of mushrooms, and the biggest morel I have ever seen in my entire life. It looked so much bigger in person. I still can't believe how enormous this mushroom was! It was taller than the waste on my 14 month of nephew! He is not holding this thing out in front of him like so many fishermen do. The stem is touching his shirt! Saturday I got a call from my dad who said he needed some help picking before the rain started. We filled up the equivelent of over 3 grocery bags in 10 minutes. Quite the patch! I've got mushrooms coming out of my ears! I wasn't able to go out yesterday, but will try to get out at least 3 nights this week.

jeff127
I went out with 2 friends on sunday and in 3 hours we picked 40 pounds and today I stopped at a farm next door to that(near belle plain) and found 20 pounds in 30 min. I have been looking for morels for 10 years and these chunks of woods have always been very good but this year is rediculous. Almost all large mature oaks(red n white),maples and ash trees had morels growing around them. The dead elms were so so. The craziest thing has been the immense size of the morels with most 6+ inches tall and bases too big to get your hand around. Ground cover was light so you could see them well before you got to the tree.jeff

JIvers
I talked to my Mom on the phone last night--she heard people are still finding morels in Fillmore County. I guessed/thought they would be done there a week ago. I may have to make a day trip this weekend. As a bonus, with the walleye opener there won't be as many people on the trout streams... fishergurl
I have gone out 3 times in the last week, and still have not found any. This is the first year I have tried. Can anyone give my any tips, or some known area I could start. I am from Zimmerman, and I am assuming the areas I have already hit either have been picked thru or are not meant for morels! PM if you don't want to share on forum!

jkcmj
I went out and checked a few trees in the whitewater this evening...found a lot of big ol' stems where people picked some monsters, and a few fresh ones. I was able to fill my hat with shrooms and stems...I actually prefer the big meaty stems to the mushroom top, so I went ahead and picked a big bunch of those stems the others left behind. I just checked a few trees and was able to come up with some fairly fresh dandies.
