james_walleye
I guess the lack of aggression doesn't bother me at all. You don't build with FA. This team will compete again if they can hit in the next 2 drafts. They need to find the next Greg Jennings, Tramond Williams, and Nick Collins. Along with a host of others. You find that, then you add your few key FAs in the hopes of going from competitive to champions. In the meantime, until you do hit in the draft, what happens in free agency is a moot point. zepman
Never said they should have overpaid for Garcon, but to not even go after Brandon Carr, and to say that they weren't even interested from the start, is just plain a mistake. You sign him, even at what Dallas paid him, and now Kahlil or Blackmon make even more sense and Claibourne is not even in the discussion. Vikings didn't have a shot at Carr. He wanted to play for the Cowboys and the Cowboys wanted him. They offered a boat-load of $$$ and he signed. No chance.
Scott K
I think they should have traded Peterson and picked up a few more picks. This team is several years away from competing, so you might as well get a few more good picks and see if you can hurry that along some. Although I am sure that is not a popular opinion. LABS4ME
Peterson would not get you much now that he's injured and with his contract amount and length... most teams would not even look at the trade bait. His trade date past a year ago...James... what do you want to give up for Williams... I'm listening! He isn't that good! HA Maybe we can work out a back door deal and send it up to the front offices!Good Luck!Ken
james_walleye
He was undrafted and was a pro bowler 2 years ago. Pretty sure any team would like to hit on players like that.....
LABS4ME
Without the help he had in the back field two years ago, he is being exposed. Some players look better than they are when the surrounding talent is there to help them look good. That pool of players in the Packer's back field has been watered down and I don't see opposing quarterback's afraid to throw in his direction. He is fine, just not the shutdown corner everyone thinks / thought he was.Good Luck!Ken
Scott K
Do you think the Vikings should go after Asante Samuel? Looks like the Eagles are looking for a 6th round pick for him. Even though he is owed a big contract, maybe he will be willing to restructure his contract from 2yr 21 million, to something like 4yr 28 million, or a 3yr, 25 million type of deal?If we picked him up, that would shore up a desperate need, and we could draft around corner then, and try to fill those other needs from the draft. Just a thought!I doubt he is willing to come here and restructure his contract though, so I doubt it happens.
mnviking28
Still too big of a deal for him, even if he restructures. He didn't do much last year (3 Int, 1 FF). He is over 30, not really part of a "youth movement". I am not saying he still wouldn't be a big upgrade over what we have, but it's tough to believe that they will give that kind of money to a guy that is that age when they wouldn't give that kind of money to a younger player like a Brandon Carr or Corteland Finnegan. It is a great idea Scott, but I am going to say no.
amateurfishing
plus he probably has no interest in going to a below .500 squad for very little money
Scott K
I know he isnt worth that money, and I am sure he wouldnt want to come here. But I think he is still a good defender, it is just his position was a little crowded in Philly last season. He would be a HUGE improvement over anyone we have, even if he is over 30. A 3 year deal wouldnt be much of a gamble on him I dont think.
LMITOUT
Jerome "I order pot by the pound and ship it certified mail and now I'm suspended for three games" Simpson? Unbelievable. You can't make it up.
LABS4ME
Vikings signed Jerome Simpson... even with 3 games suspension. I wonder if the Wizzinator is still available for use?Good Luck!Ken
amateurfishing
spielmans last year of contract......big benefit for orgainization is if they do leave town, very few front office will have to tag along contracts will be up and new owner can start with fresh clean slateits almost scary the way they are not signing any big contracts this off season to make dumping the team easier & cheaper exact same way McCombs did, not saying its the reason, but eary coincidence

creepworm
I like the Jerome Simpson signing. He is an silly-me but can play some football. His production has went up every year for the past 3 years and is better than any other reciever we have except Percy.
FISHINGURU
I like Simpson too, he's young and has a chance to be pretty good. It's only a 1 yr deal so no loss either way, he's better then what we have besides Percy.Cheech Harvin and Jerchong Simpson, I like it.Samuel has already came out and said he's willing to restructure his contract if the Eagles trade him. I'd give up a 6th for him if he would resign for a decent price. He's still a ball hawk and makes big plays.
LMITOUT
Too bad they couldn't have signed him on 4/20.Percy and Jerome: the Doobie Brothers
YiGGiN4SLoBS
Why wouldnt the vikes sign him? They have an uncanny ability to pick out dope smoking wideouts that can ball!
james_walleye
Another one year deal, nothing hurt. They have signed alot of these one year deals to use up the cap space that they have to use. Next year it's all off the books. Hopefully they hit in this draft and next year this cap space will be available again. It makes more sense to get aggressive with bigger name free agents next year after this years draft class has a year under their belt. zepman
I like the signing...fills a definate need on this team. MOST people get scared straight and take the 2nd chance to heart. Cook and him both need to follow the straight and narrow and they know it.Like James said...one year deal, no biggy. Way more upside possibilities with him to not take the chance. FISHINGURU
Too bad they couldn't have signed him on 4/20. He was busy all day and couldn't be reached.
LABS4ME
The Vikes have shown they are in the market for signing players that had season ending injuries last year... maybe the fans should expect to see Nick Collins in purple! Pack just released him. I am not surprised. I would be surprised if he is ever able to make it back...Good Luck!Ken
mnviking28
That puts an end to the Samuel talk. He was traded to the Falcons today.
FISHINGURU
Good deal for the Falcons, he wouldn't of came here anyway. Only costed them a 7th and they signed him for 3 years 18 mill.
soldoncass
I'm looking at our UDFA list: I checked off 5 that look to have a chance, either on the roster or practice squad. CB Felder,DE Owusu, OT Weems, WR Jorden, LB Nielson. My favorite is probably LB Nielson....I'd be surprised if he doesn't stick.
