Robotic fishing poles, linked in with the i-Pilot/Lakemaster chip, with boat auto pilot control!

Just start the boat with your new Astro start, sit on the dock and watch your boat and new robotic fishing pole catch the fish via webcam from the dock/house/cabin, and meet boat to pick up fish and find someone else to clean them!

Like I said, NICE! How about ice fishing implications?? This is going to be good stuff!

Unless this is some completely new technology unlike the sidescan/downscan of today, this would not be real effective for icefishing I do not think. Those technologies require you to actually be moving in order for them to work effectively so unless this is different than that, I dont know that I would work for icefishing by just dropping it down the hole.

Having said that, if you can store the images to the unit, then return for icefishing that would be kind of slick.

I believe the new 360 transducer is going to deploy from the rear of the boat (below the boat) so I would guess that it is made for a relatively stationary application. Im thinking that it will indeed be a great ice fishing tool...... but, it also deploys on a "Talon" type pole. The Talon anchoring system costs about $1300, so one would have to assume that it will just be an abreviated version of the Talon. Possibly that is why the cost is so high.

If there is a rotating set of crystals in the new transducer, then I can see it having a very stationary application, contrary to conventional one direction crystals.

The first question I have, is why does it need to be deployed on Talon type hardware, when it could go on the trolling motor. Not sure I would want to give up my traditional side imaging transducer on the transducer though.

Like Mike said: I guess we will find out today.

This has sure created quite the buzz in social media circles today.

KVD said something along the lines that this was the most exciting advancement in sonar technology he has ever seen in his life. Sure seams like it could be.

My mind is spinning (no pun intended... LOL!) with applications. From running it off the bow while bass or muskie casting to walleye trolling. Its conceivable that you could locate muskies with this and cast to them. Even if you can't pick up the fish while walleye trolling, it'll show you what the structure looks like you are trolling up to and you could make adjustments in your trolling pass.

Pretty cool stuff... pricy though. frown
