i've got an older Food Saver mashine and it's been working fine. if you do a search and type in vaccum sealers you will see past threads on this subject also that may help you. good luck.

I have a food saver. definetely try to find one that has a bag cutter, and can seal without having to vac your contents. then you can buy the food saver rolls, and customize your bag sizes. and i will say it once. get food saver brand bags!!!! way more durable than anything out there

I have a food saver and love it. I don't have the one with the bag cutter and I wish I did bought last year and have used it a lot and will 2nd the foodsaver bags

The large retail online site sells vacuum sealer bags much cheaper than the food saver brand. I bet the large online auction site does as well.

Del, I'm wondering about the quality of those non food saver brand bags. Have you used them?

I prefer to use the off brand bags, because they are half the price and I go through alot of bags in a year. They have been holding up fine so far for me, it feels like the same quality as the name brand bags. I get my bags from menards.

I actually prefer the cheaper pre-cut bags too. They don't suck the juices nearly as bad to the vaccum channel and sealing strip.....resulting in a better seal.

They do as good, and possibly a better job of getting all of the air out (imo).

They aren't as thick as the Food Saver bags, but as long as you don't drop a frozen package on the concrete basement floor they hold up just fine

No, I haven't personally. I don't keep many fish and I don't hunt so don't really use it much, except when I go on a smoker binge.

But for the price difference, I sure would give them a shot. The price of the name brand seems excessive to me.
