Chicken Drumsticks

Recommended Posts

I cook them up all the time at work and they really like them. I put them on directly over the coals and flip them once before saucing them up. The best way to sauce them is to get a wide mouth jar big enough to put the whole drum stick in there (Famous Dave's larger size works great). I grab them with a tongs and dunk the whole thing right in there. Put them back on the grill and when they start to get a good glaze on then dunk them again.

I make em all the time on the grill. You can do them from scratch but I prefer to par-cook em in a tinfoil poutch first.

I'll hit em with some kind of seasoning like - garlic herb, essence, salt pepper garlic. I'll also put a little liquid in the foil like white wine, beer, ginger ale, ect...

Put em on a med/hot grill for 25-30 minutes, flipping a few times...

Then I take them out of the foil and directly on the grill till desired done-ness is reached. This is when I also brush on some "sauce"...

The wife likes a 50/50 mix of bbq sauce and ranch dressing.

I typically make a wing type sauce - hot sauce, butter, garlic, oj, a bit of honey, and grated parm cheese. cool

Sometimes its lemon juice, olive oil, fresh herbs...

Honey mustard... Spicy BBQ... Sweet n sour... grin

I have put drumsticks in spagetti sauce in a crock pot or shake and bake is also easy. Shake and bake also has a BBQ flavor and you can microwave them if you want something quick. Also make them like wings or on the grill. You can also partially cook them in the microwave before grilling them wich works well.

Yep, treat them like big wings! I like doing them that way or buying the leg quarters and brining/smoking them whole. Once in a while the 10 lb bags will go on sale for $5 or so, pretty economical and really good smoked!
