diederich06
Wondering if anyone knows of any pheasant game farms that are still allowing hunters...I would like to get out one more time with my young lab and do some bird hunting.I talked to wild acres up in Pequot lakes, they have no birds left but were letting people hunt there land for 50$ a gun and 20$ per bird.. But they wouldn't say how many birds they feel are left out there...any thoughts. Thanks!
brittman
The gun fee seems steep. The whole industry is running low because most MN preserves have struggled with inventory the past two real winters. No one wanted a repeat. South Dakota preserves cleaned out many bird "hatcheries" with big, big orders in November.
stretch
Call sand pine phesant preserve in st.joesph and ask for keith. It's just north of st. cloud. I know he still has pheasants for $16.75 and bobwhite quail for $10.00. He very reasonable and has a great set up. I help him guide there and have been training my dogs there for the last 3 years. Newby214
Golden Meadows, one of the best in the state! Just south of st. cloud in richmond MN. No joke, the birds are like flying chickens! they are fricken enormous. Have anything from cattails to crp, to milo. We just went there a few weeks ago, great place, great birds, great time. diederich06
Sounds good guys, I booked a hunt at sand pines for this Saturday... I will post my results and thoughts next week... Really looking forward to a great hunt... Never hunted a game farm so hoping I won't be disappointed.
stretch
not to be mean but the last time i hunted golden meadows we bought 15 pheasants and my dog caught 10 of the birds cause they wouldn't fly at all cause they were too big to fly. I wasn't too pleased with that.
Whitey97
I tried Oakview Ridge in Belle Plain. Pheasants were good and nicely sized, chukars a little lame. price was a little steep. $20/bird $25/gun. 6 bird minimum and I later found out, per person. I went there with my kid and 6mo freshly trained dog. I wasn't in the mood for hunting hard for 12 birds with only 2 hrs of daylight left. I thought that was bad business. That $25 gun fee is usually waived for kids at most preserves wanting to charge a gun fee. Usually no gun fee or minimum number of released bird for kids that are along. Only requirement should be a hunter safety card or apprentice cert.

Tom7227
I was at Gold Meadows on Sunday and they said they only had about 100 birds left. I have been told that outfitters in SD bought up tons of roosters this year and so the birds are getting hard to find.
Dave S
I stopped by Caribou GC today and there was a group out hunting. Not sure if they were getting pheasants or chukars. Must have been close to 10 guys.
