Easy suggestion. I'd say Thorne Bros, but they are way backordered.

DH Custom rods built me a nice 24" noodle with my name on it. Cheaper then TB rod and just as good as well. And local MN too! Cheaper S/H fees. His current blanks are white, which I like, it stands out among all the black graphite rods such as JM that I have.

Once you go custom style, you'll never go back. I too have used JM rods, and to a newbie, they were much better then the cheapo rod/reel combos. But custom rods, whether TB or DH are much better.

I broke the spring bobber on my Jason Mitchell rod this evening, so I guess its time for an upgrade, I fish mainly for crappies-----------------any suggestions???

take it to thorne brothers and have them put one of their new tripwire spring bobbers on it. I think Matt said the charge to add this to your existing rod is $15.00. the rod doesn't even need to be a thorne brothers rods for them to do this with.

I have the DH Custom Rods Al Dente and the Perch Pounder love both rods. I had Dustin put a grommet on the Perch Pounder to accept the St Croix spring bobber system. I had him also put my reels on with the green rubber rings and I will NEVER tape a reel to cork again. I especially like the heavier back bone on the Al Dente I was landing 20" walleyes on Upper Red with no problem.

+1 for custom rods
