Few questions for 02 F150

Recommended Posts

Like stated in title I have a 02 F150 my question is my plug in for my trailer lights have never worked before. I got the line of fire for it and he the guy was just going to plug it in but they didn't work so he hardwired it off the tail light I believe. Well now I am going to be using a trailer more often could I run one of those four prong adapters off the same way that he did? If so what colors go with which? I hope this makes sense let me know if you guys can help. Thanks

Use the factory connector, it is fused separately from the lights, so if your trailer causes a fuze to blow you don't lose truck lights, you just lose the trailer! check your owners manual and it should tell you what fuses to check and get that OEM connector up an functional.

If its not the fuze its probley the connector or a bare wire somewhere. There shoud be a split connector ahead of the back bumper pull this apart, go to a parts store and get the connector and the trailer connector that will plug in to both sides of the split connector.

Thanks all You guys for your input I did a little deeper searching online as well as on my truck and go my problem solved. I thought it was a relay that was not there. Ended up that two of the fuses were blown out. I used one of those little tester deals that shows you which lights are working and they are all working according to that. We will see when I hook the trailer up this weekend but I think it will work great! Thanks again!

My problem with the trailer hookup on my 02 F150 is that it gets torn up if I am in rough ground. It broke off the hanger completely and the cover broke off. So now it gets cruded up and doesn't want to work. I don't know why they put it down there. I haven't tried to replace it yet and suspect that when I do the connections will cause problems with wires. I haven't looked but I hope there's a cannon plug that makes it a pretty easy switch out.
