Joey-modded headlights

Recommended Posts

So I took apart my VW Golf GTI headlights on a mission to make them better looking, but This could be done on virtually any car. I removed the plastic lenses, then painted the insides of the housing with VHT nightshades, tinting the chrome giving it a black chrome kinda look. Then i used Krylon X-metlas yellow anodized paint for the high beams. I replaced the fogged plastic lenses with crystal clear glass ones. I think it looks much better now.

Thanks guys! as far as why i did the yellow H beam; I just thought it looked cool,ha. As far as being dot approved I have no idea. My bulb is still clear and the light output seems to be the same, but it is just tinted yellow. I think this helps in the rain, snow, and foggy conditions. I dont think this should bother any oncoming traffic as the h beams aren't really on when oncoming traffic is present. The small light you see is called a city light and is just there for aesthetics.
