NutriSource dog food question?

I own a dog kennel and we've always fed the dogs NutriSource dog food but since they changed their bag I've seen more dogs puking up their food after eating it. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this. Or if there have been any word of a problem with this food?

Thanks

It is funny this was brought up, I had gotten a deal on 20 bags, and have switched over to try it. I have actually noticed the dogs puking in the middle of the night. Almost nightly. I only have a couple bags left, but I was thinking of switching back, as soon as their food bucket is empty, see if they stopped puking. Now after reading this, I am pretty sure I will be switching over.

I gave it a go too guy's. Some puking going on and the pups pass as much as they take in. Had problems with Native and now this. It just really gets a guy's goat when you try to do good by your dogs and these places just let us down. Just want good quality and at a fair price. Not too much to ask. I too am switching again.

We switched because of $$ reasons a few months back and are feeding Exclusive, At the time it read almost word for word the same as the Nutrisource, it is tougher to find, you can google for it and will be able to find suppliers. I also notice a huge difference in our Golden's coat, and I am not sure what little difference in the label made the difference, but she went from wiry hair to a nice soft coat....

I switched my dog of nutrisource about a year ago now. He's being fed Taste of the Wild now and he's doing great on it. His coat is much nicer and he makes less mess in the yard.

I've actually had numerous people pet him and ask me what kind of suppliments I'm giving him to get his coat so nice and soft. All he gets is his kibble and an occasional chunk of carrot or brocolli.

Also I don't think the cost is much more for TOTW considering it seems like I'm feeding him less of it.

i'm gonna post up this on RTF also. I had fed my dog Nutrisource performance for the past 5 years. well, he got really really picky at eating this fall, and kind of quit eating it. i do remember some odd occurences of vomiting too.

I have switched him since then to Pro Plan Performance, and no vomiting.

This is really peaking my curiousity, seeing he always did so well on the nutrisource.

Anyone else out there have any issues too?

I have noticed the last 3 or so bags that my dog has been a lot more picky...when normally he eats he food real quickly. Just figured it was something with him more then the food. Has me wondering now though....He really seemed not all that interested in a food he used to love. What did they change and when did they change it? Maybe I'll have to try switching back to PPP as well.

did they actually change the ingredients though, or just the packaging?

my dog doesn't want to eat PPP either. i think after this bag i'm switching back to Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete, and sticking with that.

We had an older bag on the bottom of the pile so we started using that. Then we took a handful of each and the food in the new bag was lighter in color. I also called NutriSource and they said the same thing about nothing had changed. seems wield to me. Chuck and D's changed out the last three bags we had with ones from a different lot number and they seem to be ok. I'm not sure if this will happen again or not but I'm not happy about it, And am considering switching food for all the dogs.

After the switch to the new packaging I noticed my dogs had excessive gas. I emailed Nutrisource and was told the same thing; only the packaging has changed.

I also noticed that the food appears to be more moist or oily now than it used to be. I am feeding the adult chicken grain free variety. I cut back my dogs rations a bit and the issues seemed to have gone away. Could the packaging be that much better now that the food is staying "fresher" and the food is better absorbed by the dogs? I did notice that the rationing information on the bag was changed to smaller portions than on the old bags. When dogs are getting too much food they tend to get gassy. So it could be possible that feeding them the same amount now as we did before the packaging switch could be causing some of the issues we are seeing. I don't know about the puking though.

I would definitely contact them though with any information you have if your dog is puking.

If you guys are having problems there is no reason to stick with it. At that price point there are many good options available.

Sounds like I switched at just the right time. My dog was getting a little picky at the end of our run with nutrisource but I never really thought it was the food. Perhaps it was.

I bought 20 bags at a discount this fall, and I have 1 full bag, and some in the food containers left, so about 2 bags total. I have 4 dogs, so it wont take long to use it up. After it is gone, I will just go back to Diamond Natural chicken and rice.

I buy Diamond Naturals in a 40lb bag at Menards for $28, right across the street at Runnings the same bag is $34. They dont need a lot of this food, my 2 dogs are both around 60 pounds and a bag lasts almost a month so it doesnt cost a lot to feed them. Canidae is another good option, a couple dog food review sites I have looked into both give it 5 out of 5 stars, and it is $36 for a 30 pound bag, but the average 60 pound dog only eats 1 and a half cups or so a day according to the bag.

I just started feeding my dogs Diamond Performance (purple bag). I had them on ProPlan forever but @ $44 bucks a bag I was spending a lot of food! I feed according to reccomendations but with a 4 year old and 10 month old GSP they eat quite a bit. The Diamond was $24 per bag @ fleet farm, basically half the price. The ingredients were quite close, with chicken being #1. Let me know how diamond has worked for you all, just trying to cut expenses but I want quality food. I mixed it with the proplan to get them switched over but had to deal with some major gas issues for a week or so! Coats looked awesome on proplan and im hoping everything stays the same.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
