"Sorry about the delay, the blanks have been on order since June. There have been a couple of set-backs with the material and only a handful of blanks have actually shown up. We are filling orders in the order they came in by date. When our shipment of blanks arrives we will put them on top priority. We literally have hundreds of orders waiting on Power Noodles blanks so we're waiting anxiously just like everyone. We really appreciate the patience and support on this situation. Thanks. TB Rod Shop."

I ordered a power noodle the other day online. Katie emailed almost as soon as my order went through and said it will be awhile. She was guessing 4 weeks. I know they are WAY behind, but I believe they are doing their absolute best. I should not have waited so long to order anyway. I knew in June that Ice Fishing was going to come again this year:)

On a better note, I also ordered a professional plus so DTro can show me how to catch catfish. And that has already shipped. I cannot wait.

I recall hearing the same issue last Winter as the manufacturer of the blanks in the USA gets backed up on giant orders. For example, the manufacturer will put a $500,000 order before a $10,000 order. The talk back then was being able to get blanks much faster but they would come from overseas manufacturers. Hope they are still buying USA blanks...

Got one custom TB rod and one off the shelves last Winter, both are very nice!

Yes, they are still buying USA blanks Dougger. There is a bunch of speculation as to why the manufacturer hasn't shipped blanks, but it is all just speculation. I was in talking with Josh the other day and he is very frustrated with the supplier right now. Problem is, you can't just switch suppliers and go to an inferior product and give that to people who have paid hard earned money to get a rod. They are my favorite ice fishing rod series and I have a couple of them. I want to add a bunch more just cause they are that great.

Its great that she emailed you back right away, but it should be listed as back-ordered before you place your order.

I don't think that TB is going to be giving up their supplier any time soon. Besides, even if they did, apparently you would be waiting behind them in the order queue.

Last I heard, the supplier was a company in California. I'm guessing they had a large batch of blanks fail outgoing or incoming inspection. It happens, and when you're dealing with something that takes a while to make, it can be painful to get through. Trust me, the people at TB feel much worse.

There's no worse feeling than finding out the parts you were banking on have a problem and the whole lot is bad. It's especially bad when you aren't getting any more for a month and you're getting daily calls about it.

I went to TB the other day with my wife to make some pretty strong “hints” of what I want for Christmas. I asked about the power noodle and the rep said they are on back order. I asked if they at least had an old one or a sample lying around that I could look at, they did have one blank that he was able to show me. Just by playing around with the blank I can assure you the quality of that product is far superior to anything the Chinese could ever make. Go USA!

Personally, I just dropped some big hints that I want the Perch Sweetheart for Christmas this year and will probably look at getting a Power Noodle for the 2012-13 ice season. I will just make sure I get my order in before spring opener…

Yeah, I was in thorne last week and those guys feel horrible that they can't meet demand and get rods in the hands of anglers, especially for christmas.

Hopefully they get them in time for us to get out there and use them on the ice soon. They're worth the wait.

Ya Im bummed I couldnt get a power noodle at the show but Im patiently waiting for the blanks to come in and then Ill order one. Im in no real hurry. I have been using a Jason Mitchel meatstick in the meantime and its doing the job. Not a TB Power Noodle but its doing the job. Another option would be to use a spring bobber rod until your PN comes in.

Im going to take that comment as you being sarcastic...

Your smartphone, tv's, cars, and most elecronics you own probably are made there too. Maybe even your fishing reel. :P

They did say it would be 3 plus weeks. Its listed on their site in big red letters when you click on the power noodle rods. She just emailed to verified i knew this.

Thanks

I know for a fact Apple subcontracts the devices in their iPhones out to a Chinese company wink

There iPhones are assembled & made in China aside from small parts. It doesnt matter where the part or item is made as long as its in a quality controlled environment. If someone worried about jobs and work ethics I suggest joining human right activist groups to cure the sanity. No need for put downs even though I dont think the comment was really directed towards that. More likely joking I assume.

How do you know?

Most people would rather spend $20 on a decent blank (china), than $80 (usa) on a really good blank. Most fishermen, DO NOT have a clue about blanks. IF you're a builder for a tackle shop, who has a dozen rods sitting on a rack, the fisherman does not care if the blanks are made on Yugo blanks, or Ferrari blanks - they care that the price is for a custom rod. The less money a builder spends, the more they make, it's quite simple.

I think you will be surprised when you find out that although many USA blanks are rolled in USA, the materials are purchased outside of the USA. Id call it more assembled in the USA.

I myself, don't mind foreign blanks. I in fact have a custom st croix rod that now collects dust most of the time compared to my 'foreign" rod. I will continue to buy USA and Foreign blanks. 9 times out of 10 people will take the cheaper foreign blank. I have had several people ask me to build them custom ice rods. I simply tell them they are better off going to GM and buying a combo.

With today's tackle advancements, and most people using spring bobbers and regular bobbers, I don't feel having a quality blank is necessary unless you are using said rod as a jigging rod.. 10 out of 10 times you are relying on a bobber, or spring bobber. So your soft sensitive rod tip becomes useless in my opinion.

I build my own rods, I myself was just at gander this weekend taking advantage of the sales. I don't do much jigging, and when I do I use a custom rod I have built. Most the time I rely on spring bobbers and regular bobbers.

so in my eyes, I can spend 60-100 dollars making my own nice custom ice rod or go to gander and buy several combos that will do the same job...

Keep in mind that a better rod doesn't make you a better fisherman either wink

just my 2c

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
