Chisle plowed bean feild for the last hunt.

My land has 11 acres of beans that have been tacken off an chisle plwed since the mid Oct. I have sat over that feild 7 times during rifle an nothing has showed, just too mild i think, no need to feed heavily. Last sunday i missed a nice 8 pointer on neighboring land where deer have been comeing out in to to pick green shoots of green planty material, wheat i assume. Land owner said he has his eye on a bigger buck an kindly asked me to leave it to him now, no biggie was thankfull for the hunt. Now, i can try an sit in my woods an try an catch deer moving to his which wont bother his hunt or I,m thinking that this good cold snap is triggering them to put on the feed bag an they'll be in the chisled beans pawing an picking, Thats where I'm gona put my money. What do u guys think? should be a slam dunk for one last doe or a nice buck Huh? Well maybe not a slam dunk but good odds. BoAR

Does the bean field have enough feed left or is the majority gone?

If you did not see any deer for all those days rifle hunting, I may look for another place that they are feeding unless they went nocturnal on you. I would think at least a few does and fawns would have come to the field to feed.

Is there fresh deer sign yet in the bean field?

Whether they will be in the beans is totally contingent on whether there are beans available. If there are no beans, there won't be deer movement there. Typically, I'd assume that a chisel plowed bean field would be lacking a great deal of available feed, but it doesn't hurt to look.

You know where they likely bed, get downwind or whatever and watch where you could see 50 yards in each direction, in my area you'd have 0 chance most likely in a field, they will not step out into the open yet until shooting light is past, the cooler weather could be thee x factor making a chance in the open more probable. The deer really have our deer stand locations pegged in my area and are taking different routes of travel avoiding those so we are ground stand hunting the 1st hour/last hour why not really if you have multiple hunts of 0 from your stand, season waning, kinda like goose hunting some, just trying to cut them off before they veer in a different direction, many times they'll be browsing in the thicker cover waiting for darkness with this colder weather before going naked into the field. Play the wind though and you'll likely hear them before you see them, getting closer to there bedroom so have your gun shouldered before you see them in case they see you, pull back the hammer as quiet as possible also before they're too close or game over, they can peg out of the ordinary just like if your spouse rearranges your living room you notice. Whatever you do, good luck and log all info in your head for next season.

scoped out the chisled beans, an with ten minuets left of shoot out popped a nice doe an two fawns, I wasnt hunting tho, just scopeing, just as time ran out three more popped out, so they are skittish cause the does wouldnt feed or break away from the wooded edge into the feild till past dark. Fun to watch the fawns run willie nillie. So I get back home an the land owner who let me miss the 8 pointer on his land called three times to let me know that hes is now gone for the weekend tomorrow an its all mine, an 9 came out where I missed that 8, along with the 8. What time did they show U ask? 4 pm. This land is boareders mine an is down a dead end roadd back in the yucks an they feel safe enough to show early, so its game on. Just gota play the wind an wich isnt till sat an sun for the right stuff but we'll see how that changes. Later boar
