Have you installed the last update?

Before the last update the details and depth numbers were missing with an overlay turned on. Now they work perfectly.

I spent the morning on the couch watching fishing shows while searching Vermilion. smile

Yeah, I know about the overlay issue. I didn't have them turned on. With the latest update and re-downloading the lake maps I still have areas like the one I posted before where there is not a single contour number on the whole screen. Move a little to one side and center the only number on the screen...

I don't know how anyone could follow a 1' contour line at a particular depth in a moving boat with no numbers to work with. The old app had a lot more numbers to keep you on track...

I'm going to Vermillion for the first time this year, goin' for a week. Care to share all your sooper-secret spots??? (I'm kidding about the secret spots...)

All I did was confuse myself looking at the map. laugh

I've been fishing the east end of Big V for 15 years without mapping and know that there is almost infinitely more to learn.

The mapping is confusing the heck out of me with information overload. grin

Mailed my application to the Walleye Classic on Monday.

West end, June...

I'll be re-reading the Vermillion forum a time or two. If you guys change your minds about sharing a honey hole or two... wink

Trust your instincts and your graph. There are too many spots to put on a map. I found all my spots without gps mapping. Watch your graph as you drive to your destination. If you see an uncharted hump or gravel pile, swing around for a look, even wet a line.

My friend has spots that only one boat will fit on, verticle jigging. You won't find it on a map and generally you are alone because others won't fit on the spot and they won't stay when they aren't catching.

And my friend won't even share his spots with me. I've found a few on my own though. wink

That's the best part.

There is this one lake I'm going to in WI this spring where I have something like 6 different maps (3 paper and 3 digital). It doesn't take long to get map overload checking that out...

What do you fish for?

Walleyes and Crappies, just enough for the fry pan. I've been checking out the forums and the maps from Lakemaster and Navionics. It looks like there is no end to great structure. I'm really looking forward to getting out there on the big V!

PLEASE don't post your secret spots on the forum...

Black bay is known for Crappies in the spring. Where they will be in June probably depends on weather. In general, getting crappie spots on vermilion is like pulling teeth.

Walleye, there are sand flats, rock reefs, weedbeds. Hard to say where they will be, not that I am that much of a successful walleye guy.

If the weather stays in this warm pattern I'm guessing that by the time we get there we'll be in a full summer pattern. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing on Big V.

I went to check out Black Bay on my phone and found it isn't labeled in either the new or old Navionics app. Norwegian isn't labeled either. I think I'm going to need one of those Hot Spots paper maps for that...

Are you up there most weekends?

I am retired and go for a good chunk of the summer. Several guys and myself are going canoeing in early June, so will not be there until late june. I will be up to open sometime in May.

The lakemaster paper map is the best. It is basically the chip version on paper. The fishing spots on the hotspots map aren't anything secret or anything.

The last few springs have been sort of strange.

He guys ,

I'm not the smartest when it comes to the phone thing and not trying to Hijack this thread but I have a question concerning this app.

I have a HTC inspire and purchased the Navionics app no problem well my phone died so I got one to replace it and I had everything transfered over on my sim card but the guy at the store said that the Nav app was in the phone and couldnt be transfered.

He said it was easy to do by going thru your google account but I dont know how to go about opening that account dont remember opening a google account for it.

Please what do I do? I really dont want to purchase it again and shouldnt have to. Not trying to be cheap just trying to save 10 bucks.

Thanks and even the kid cant figure it out.

You have a Google account. You needed one to purchase it the first time. You need to sign into that account on your new phone and then download the App again. It will be free since it's tied to your account and not your phone.

Ok I undrstand that I have a google account just guess I dont know where to go to open it.

CAMAN- I just open the market place thingy on the screen and the apps all come up. Do I just go to the navionics app and down load it again?

Do I go to google search ?

You should just be able to go into Android Market search for it and re-download it. If it says "Purchase" or has a price listed it means you are not using the same account. Each Market transaction is saved under the gmail account it was purchased under and you should be able to re-download everything you purchased on another phone unless it was deleted completely from the market. Which the Navionics Lakes US North was, but is now back for those who purchased it.

Thanks CAMAN I'll Give it a try but I think my Gmail accountis differnt than the first phone so I will most likely just spend the 10 bucks and quit searching for what I can't find. eek

Just checked it and its a different account on my new phone kid ste up my last account and he cant remember it oh well thanks for helping me out. I'll just re-purchase it its not that much.

Thanks Kyhl, I'll give that a try. Hopefully there won't be tons of boats to contend with mid week.

I just commented about the Hot Spots map because they seem to have names of bays, islands, and some reefs where this android app doesn't very often. That can be handy when someone reports they were fishing in "such-and-such" bay and I want to see where that is. I have the Lakemaster chip and that seems pretty good but the fish-finder isn't always handy.

My gal and I will be up later in June too. Maybe we'll get lucky and miss the mayfly hatch.

Try fishing a Lindy type rig with no sinker during a hatch. Found that out by mistake while switching weights while my line was still in the water. Weird, but they were nailing it just below the surface. Always fished on the bottom before that experience. Now, back to that app...

That's weird, I'd have never expected 'em at the surface...
