getting your feet off the ice

Every year, this happens to me no matter how good my boots are, the cold seeps into my boots making my feet cold. It doesn't matter if i'm on the ice or in my pop up shack.

I've tried yoga mats with limited success, and last year I made use of my son's foot stool.

Thought I'd like to hear form my fellow ice heads on how they keep their feet out of the snow ice when sitting idle.

I run half inch high density foam. My buddy got me some from the factory he works.

It's works good but if left on the ice too long it will freeze to the ice. It works best to put them down after the water from the holes has froze back to the ice.

I have a small chunk of carpet I put under my feet. It works well as I can flip it into the otter at the end of the day. If it gets wet I can hang it in the basement when I get home to dry it out.

Carpet, foam insulation, foot stool..........anything you can do to get your feet off the ice will be better than nothing.

I use a peice of 2 inch thick insulatation cut into a two foot square, I then wrap the whole piece with gorrila tape to keep it from breaking up. I also take a peice off small diameter nylon rope and loop it and tape the ends in to make a handle. I have used the same peice for 3yrs. and my feet thank me for it!!!!

I use the snap together gym mat squares (2x2). I like them because they fit into the bottom of my sled and they do not stick to the ice. Fleet Farm sells them in packs of 6 for $19.99 on sale.

This is what I do too. They work pretty darn good.

I did the gym mats too in the beginning of last season with my Ice King and it worked good. Bought a pair of Predator Extreme boots and no longer needed to use them. I always have cold feet too,in fact my feet are cold right now in my house at 73 degrees but the Predators keep my feet warm on the ice!

I could never keep my feet warm for years until i went to a cheap pair of boots and good socks. The reason is my feet are always wet 24/7 their are wet put a good boot on and instant cold. I work outside all year and if im not in the snow i have on tenise shoes. If you are home and comfortable but your feet are wet try less boot!!!!

I have a section of composite docking, I got this from the company in White Bear Lake that I got my dock from, don’t' think they are a sponsor on here so wont' say their names but rhymes with Porky's. They are at the Ice Show every year. Works great! They advertise it as Kwick Connect Flooring, but super lightweight and is wide enough for two people in a flip over, good grip when wet as well. They sell a lot of these to ice fisherman, for ~$23.

This section is made up of 4 of the small sections which are ~12" by 48"

Looks like they now have a 16" wide section now as well (brown), that even says for Ice Fishing Flooring but I only saw a 4 Pack for $90 they didn't have this when I went with the single gray section. I have used it for 2 seasons now and works well.

Take that back they have the single 16" sections for $20 now. I'm thinking a mod in the future, where I put this on a hinge system on the slide of the flipover, now I just carry with me. could flip up and snap it out of the way then just drop it when at location,
