License Question

Because someone here is bound to know...

I hadn't planned on hunting during muzzleloader season, but schedule is looking like I may be able to get out for a weekend.

I hunt a managed zone, and filled my buck tag during rifle season.

Can I still buy a muzzleloader license and use it to fill my management tag, which I already have?

You used your either sex tag on a buck, right? If so, when you buy a muzzle loader license you might as well use your muzzle loader license to tag your doe. Your management tag is basically useless now for a management area as you have already taken one of the two deer you are allowed to take.

I am in the same predicament. I want to shoot one more deer this year, I have an archery tag and two management tags legs. I used my firearm license on a buck. If I shoot another, I will more than likely just use my muzzle loader tag. Basically, its going to cost me $27 dollars to go out and shoot a doe during ML season. I might save the money and use my bow if the weather looks good. But I haven't shot anything with my ML yet.

when you buy your muzzle license, it comes with a tag. not sure it matters if you use that tag or your management tag to tag a doe in a managed area.

You could also go to a Hunters Choice zone and take another doe.

You used your main firearms tag for a buck in a management zone. You may buy a muzzle license and use your main tag for a doe. You could also then buy bonus tags which could be used for does in an intensive zone.

You could also shoot a doe in a hunters choice zone and use your main tag, but no bonus tags can be used in hunters choice zones.

If you still have any questions, i suggest calling the DNR today. They quickly cleared up a question I had asked here on HSO and the info gave from HSO members was incorrect. (That would be of course due to the language used in the regs made the situation un clear)
