harvey lee
Well, no Jr did not win a race this season. But, seems Jr will finish around 6-8th in points for what 43 or a few more drivers.I will say that Jr has a ways to go and at this time is not considered a legit contender but, he may be on his way.Next season I believe will be Jr's defining season whether he will ever be considered a contender. Jr is on a well funded team and very shorthly has to show a bit more.Congrats Jr on a heck of a season and a very good finish. Seems there are a few drivers who are highly touted that finished below you.
&JAG
Agreed. Next year will be his year to show what he's got. I'm saying it now... Kasey will be in the chase so there goes another spot... Also, Biffle will be back, so will Jr. step up? Time will tell I guess. He had a good start this season and faded; I think next year he has to be solid all season to make. HOF#13
If you make the chase you are a contender (for that season) plain and simple, just because anything can happen in 10 races. That being said, Jr. and his team do need to be more consistent next season and obviously have to get a few wins under their belts. This season was a good rebound from the prior two seasons, but they need to build upon it. He made it back to the chase this season, but he needs to keep himself there in the seasons yet to come to become a consistent threat and contender. PurpleFloyd
We have already seen his best. He is not his father and never will be. That being said he is still good enough to run with the big boys but face it, he has been in the game for a decade plus now and has been given every opportunity to rise to the top and has failed to do it. As Cal said. "Nuthin wrong with Silver". Or Bronze, cast iron, rust or whatever.

You are corre4ct, he is not his father just like the Petty family. The trouble is, since Sr was a legend, many thought Jr should do the same thing. Not possible.Jr will as you stated never be a great contender for numerous championships but he is better tha the biggest majority out there today. harvey lee
Many have equip just as good as Jr. As I am sure you are aware Gregg, it takes equipment, driver and a total team and crew back at the shop to have a good season. HOF#13
To certain individuals here Harvey, if Jr. does good in a race, it is because he is with Hendrick. If he does poorly in a race, it is because of Jr. Some here are not willing to give him any amount of credit. You are right, he is not his father, nor is it even fair to compare him to his father. Is Jr. the best driver in NASCAR, no, but he can be pretty dang good. Also, being a fan of Jr. has to be far less embarassing throughout a season compared to those who like either of the busch brothers.
gregg52
jr is an avg driver as is kensth biffle newman etc etc i was just addressing the the majority statement harvey refered to that he was better than the majority i wouldnt go as far to say that is all i was saying jr will win again probably idont see him going much over the 25 wins mark which would put him in there with labonte;s kensths etc etc which i guess if you look at it theres not alot of drivers with over 10 wins so maybe he is in the majority i guess i was just thinkin he should have a few more wins being he has that equipment and yes he should do good with that equipment not to many have drove for hendricks and not won most have multiply wins i still say the knock on jr is if he doesnt have a good car to start with most of the time he's not going to get it better now if thats his fault or the crew chiefs i dont know he has been alittle better at that this year
harvey lee
For this season, I believe he was the highest finishing Hendrick car including Gordon and JJ.That's not a bad year at all and those guys have Hendrick equip also. hoytshooter
the hendricks cars finished 6,7,8. jj, jr, gordon. when jr or any driver is mentioned with those two. they are doing pretty well for them selves.

harvey lee
No reason to give up on a driver while he has been changing teams and crew chiefs.I do realize that it does take time everytime a change to a team is made or for that matter a total, team change.Jr I do not see ever being a JJ or Petty. For that matter, I really do not see that in any driver currently racing.Jr will do well or OK at the worst.I will say this, when we started to race go karts nationally I thought we would never win a National championship but we kept at it and we did. Then we started to race the dirt modifieds and I thought again after 2 seasons, we may have a hard time ever doing real well. Now at the local track, I can safely say we are the odds on favorite to win the weekly races. Please do not take this as bragging as it is not meant that way at all. Clint has won races at Boone at the Supernationals and won the Race of Champions race last season. No, I will not give up as if one does thier homework and continues to try to improve, about anything can happen if you do not give up.I believe the old saying goes,Winners never quit and quiters never win. gregg52
ya i agree i dont see no 5 timers coming along probably never..lolwill be interesting to see how that team responds next year I guess I would bet the champ comes from hendricks though maybe roush but probably not i cant remember who won before jimmie but i think this makes it like 7 in row for him
HOF#13
I think that we all at times forget that being an average driver in the nascar sprint cup series still means you are one of the top 43 stock car drivers in the world.

HOF#13
maybe it should be...most press...lol You would have to have 2 awards for the most press Gregg.... 1) Positive Press and 2) Negative Press The Busch brothers would definitely have won the award for the most negative press this year! Although some would say, press is press.
