Well we discussed so many other topics, might as well ask what kind of bullets are you using and what kind if any would you not cuz you had bad experience with it..

Federal noslar partition 30-06. 180 gr work great for me.

Not a fan of any ballistic tips, haven't had good expansion with them.

I use 180 gr. Core-Lokt for my Savage lever. I have always seen good expansion and good accuracy. Core-Lokt has been around for many years and, in my mind, has withstood the test of time. I used to use 150 gr., but I switched to 180 gr. quite a few years ago on the theory that it might be less likely to be deflected by a piece of brush.

Out of my 270 WSM I have handloaded Accubonds, Partitions, and the have used factory loaded Federal Fusions. They have all killed deer, but have not held together well with the extreme velocities of that caliber. This year I'll be trying some 140 grain Barnes Tsx handloads. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see how they perform on a big buck next week! The moose I shot this fall at 300 yards only went 50 yards with one pass through and one bullet recovered. The one recovered weighed 139.8 grains. Don't get much more weight retention than that!
