gee thanks...... Oh i see, looks like a boars head, not looks likes boars head. my bad. bogs got quite the experience in identifing from male to female. Myself would say boar, but that snout looks to long an narrow. later, boars head

At first glance it looks like a male, even a large male. Look at the front legs. No matter how big a female bear is they always have smaller front legs and feet. If this was a large male it would have heavy thick legs. These legs are thin compared to the rest of the body.The ears would look smaller on a large male head. The rump on this bear is huge compared to the front shoulders. If this sow is out this late (according to the date stamp on the photo)she does not have cubs with her. At her age she should be pregnant. You would almost certainly be killing 3 or 4 bears by taking her. If you shoot a female with cubs, they have a chance to survive. If you take a pregnant sow you kill her and her unborn cubs.
