Wolves at bear baits

Great! Fine time to be starting 2 new baits. I plan to start one, but not two. Have the baits been able to recover the next season then?

Yes by the next season/even month they will start hitting again. Actaully a good hard rain will help the baits re-start if you can figure out how to keep the wolves off of it.

I thought they were delisted already on a federal level this reads as if it was not yet.

They are not delisted, that is what Big Al was getting at with the state's hands being tied.

We had a little better luck last week. Ended up passing on one small bear, and seeing a lynx come in and try hunting squirrels over our bait. Pretty cool to see. He made one wild attack plan that just missed a squirrel, then tried to figure a way to get the ones hiding under the bait logs. I had my 12 year old son in the stand with me, so he got to see it to.

This is the same bait the wolf was tearing apart in the video. With a few more large rocks and an awkward stump, I think we have kept her out of it now

Hi All,

I had a bear hitting for a week strait. The day I put out my cam, he stopped hitting and I got pics of wolves for a week before I quit baiting that site. There were four wolves all together, two adults and two pups, one of each were collared.

I had one very skittish wolf on the camera for two nights straight. While he was there, little to no bear activity. Now the wolf has moved on and the bears are back. Time to arrow-punch one! (a bear)
