PurpleFloyd
Well I might have to revise my prediction of a rose bowl win for this year. Next year for sure....
JBMasterAngler
I actually thought the purdue game was a possible win for the gophers. Ouch! I thought kill stressed fundamentals? Team is looking worse and worse with every game! At one point they allowed 96 consecutive points to be scored on them.
so haaad
I don't think Lombardi could lead this team to victory right now. My favorite play from the Purdue game was when the Gophers ran into the Purdue punter on 4th and forever, right after the defense forced it's first punt in about three weeks. And the Gopher player gets hurt on the play too. Gopher player after running into punter One thing I did notice is that Kill is starting to play more and more young players, including freshmen on both lines. Kind of tells me that he's already looking past this season.
SkunkedAgain
He should play the younger guys. It's almost like the older Brewster players are a cancer that can't be cured without getting them off of the field. I heard Kill in his weekly FSN show say that they are concerned that the players are over-thinking instead of reacting. I'm a little shocked that the players may not have been able to digest D-II schemes. Either they are REALLY dumb or just not able to grasp the concepts and apply them to their play. CJH
Very telling he is playing a lot more underclassmen. And why not? Its not like any of the upperclassmen are making any plays. I think he's a solid coach, not Lombardi as mentioned above! Not a miracle worker, but he seems to understand what needs to be done.Kill and a bunch of assistants went out a mid season recruiting trip this week. I am sure they are telling anybody listening that if you have some talent, you have a shot at playing right away. That can be a compelling argument. CJH
Straight from the Pioneer Press:Brew's crew was less than stellarPioneer PressUpdated: 10/11/2011 10:33:03 PM CDTTim Brewster's 2008 Gophers recruiting class looked a lot better on paper back then than it does today on the field. The 2008 Gophers football recruiting class, which produced many of this season's junior players, was ranked No. 3 in the Big Ten Conference and No. 17 nationally by Rivals.com.That class, under then-Minnesota coach Tim Brewster, had seven four-star players: linebacker Keanon Cooper, quarterback MarQueis Gray, wideout Brandon Green, wideout Vincent Hill, linebacker Sam Maresh, QB David Pittman and cornerback Traye Simmons. That class was supposed to lead the Gophers' ascent.Only Cooper, Gray and Green are still in the program. Hill never got to Minnesota and ended up at Temple. Maresh is playing for Iowa Western Community College. Pittman had a nondescript two seasons at Minnesota, and Simmons, probably the most successful player from that class, is with the San Diego Chargers' practice squad. There were no offensive linemen in that class, which doesn't help, either. I've made many people also laugh by relaying the Gophers' ineptitude as stated above.
so haaad
There's definitely been a lot of tough laughs this year watching the Gophers, more so than most years. Even as a U of M grad and fan, I can't help but laugh about it a little. On the bright side, the Gophers are only 3-point underdogs this Saturday as they face the bye week!
