mhines
I have been having a heck of a time this year catching any cats. So its time to do some hunting. I fish on the Mississippi River. Generally I look for holes with decent current. So I'm curious.............What do you folks look for when hunting new spots??
sanka
A part of the bank where I can actually walk and land a fish.
Rick G
I too look for holes with a good current seam but also find spots with decent amounts of wood the fish can use for cover to be productive areas of the river.

Scott K
Baitfish. +1! Come night time (feeding time) I look for bait fish jumping, if you see this, the flats will be feeding on them sooner or later. If not this time, move to the next spot with bait fish.

MinnesnowtaWild
Shallow sand flats loaded with baitfish are my ideal spots or else creek mouths.

EBass
Try a # of spots. Log jams/wood piles, rocks, eddies, seams, creek mouths, holes, pushes, and cut banks. Sucks, but sometimes it takes awile to figure out where they are willing to bite.I guess to me if it looks "fishy" I'll fish it.
