I just hope this isn't the beggining of flag hockey and everyone gets suspended every hit. That also will drive away some top recruits. College is getting way to soft, as a player right now I would entertain the canadian juniors.

Jarrid,

Great article on the Beavers, thanks for posting. Their F4 appearance a few years ago was nothing short of spectacular. I'm sure most of the people in MN and surrounding area were pulling for them that year.

With the exception of the recent Denver series, they have been playing awesome. Will be an interesting weekend in Mariucci as I think the Gophers will have their hands full.

If BSU can split with Minnesota this weekend they have a pretty soft schedule after that with Wisconsin and AA. They could very well make another run like they did in 2009. They have a 6-2 out of conference record.

Might be tough to recognize him without the beard. Mini mite game from '95 against UND (I was probably sitting in row 5 of student section). First goal in a rink complex where he would flirt with 200 career college points. Jack for Hobey!

Pretty sweet move you don't see used much these days, give it to the goalie then take it back and score. Good wheels too, did you see him burn that D and then leave a nifty little drop pass, too bad the rest of his team was back at the blue line. grin

Tardy did the Goalie Give-N-Go last April, scoring on his own rebound. Of course at a little higher speed. And you're right, it did kinda look like a drop pass. I was wondering what on earth he was intending there.

Kinda silly to post the video, but I love watching Mini Mites. Usually one kid with the puck and everyone else chasing him.

Go Tech! Go Tech! Kind of reminds me of the time I was deep under cover at the Ralph, sitting in the student section of all places. I had to carefully balance cheering for Tech, while also trying to rile up the students and do all of this while not getting my azz kicked. Oh the memories.

I don't think Tech fans need to go under cover. IMHO, many fans kinda cheer for Tech as the underdog/get a little pat on the head. Hopefully for Tech, that changes - and is changing. Heck, I cheer for them if it doesn't effect UND or BSU.

My under cover reference was more along the lines of a Gopher fan sitting in the Sioux student section cheering on the enemy. grin

Josh Robinson is Tech's better goalie, but can be rather streaky. He plays roughly 2/3 of the minutes. Tale of a streaky goalie when they took 3 points in Duluth. Robinson let in 4 quick goals in the first period, and then stopped all 52 shots over the remaining 5 periods of play.

Tech has a really fun fanbase that travels pretty well for the school size (lots of engineering nerds). Hard not to like them. It's on my to-do list to get to a game in Houghton.

I don't think they even have a airport in Houghton but who am I to talk. Grand Forks isn't exactly a booming metro place either smile. Could be a fun trip.

Gophs looked pretty stinking good last night. I tell you if we had a second line that put the effort in to score we would be an actual contender. Honestly. if Jake Hanson could score we would be blowing teams away.

I saw some good things last night. Mainly the fact that Budish is peaking and the third line is pretty darn good. With all the time Budish has missed it was only a matter of time until he got back on track. Honestly watch out if he is really peaking. YOu already know Rau and Bjuggy will do their part. I say separate that line and put Budish on the second to give them a spark.

I hope they let that annoying Tech band at the X again this year. They are a little annoying, but it pretty cool, it just bleeds college hockey. I cant believe they have to pay their own way there....

Sounds like Rowney is trying to be a Frattin with these numbers coming out of nowhere. Stinking Sue

UND won a tight game last night. Tech's goalie was hot. Eidsness started in net for UND, Aaron Dell is injured(listed day to day). With all these injuries that UND has had this year, I wouldn't expect them to be a bubble team in the NCAA tourney. There's been a few guys who have step up this year besides Rowney. UND needs another win tonight and then at least two more in the next 4 games and there in good shape to move on. Its gonna be tight for the Sioux here on out.

If Minnesota starts to be peak now it should make for a interesting final five. I see Denver shutout sconie. I wander how UMD looked against Mankato? It sounded like the CC/UNO game was a good one.

Why does Budish always look around the rink and at refs everytime he scores? It's like he is not sure it's a good goal everytime... Anyone notice? I never seen him do it when he played for Edina.

I hope the Beavers can show themselves more tonight, it's a fun series for me to watch.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
