Kbb, would you not agree that if Kyle raced a bit cleaner and did not hit about everything on the track during and then also hitting cars after the race that fans would respect him more??

Kyle can and always has had a huge talent for racing a car but he really needs to clean up his act.

Kyle may have won more races than Jr but you do not see Jr running into others like the 18.

May have alot to do with the fact that Jr is so popular and why Kyle gets booed alot.

For me, I slam Kyle due to the fact of the way he races and I would guess others do also for that same reason. Kyle draws alot of attention from how he acts and it at times is not very grown up. Just like his brother use to but now he has seen the light, right after Jimmy had to punch his lights out.

I'll admit that he has done his share on the track to make people not like him, but he has gotten better, and I think many would agree to that, now before you bring up the incident with Harvick a few weeks ago you gotta remember that Harvick started that with that big shot he gave him from behind that almost wrecked him, Kyle didn't like it so he finished it, can't blame him for that.

Everyone gets on Kyle for aggresive driving but they never remember that black 3 that used to be on the track, he was the worst there ever was, nobody will ever drive as dirty as he did, so why is Kyle looked down upon for that kind of driving and Sr never was?

There were plenty of times throughout Sr's career that he was looked down upon for some of his moves.

Once Jeff Gordon said, Sr is aggressive but I would love to be as good as he was one day. Jeff stated that he likes to follow Sr as he casn learn soooo much from him.

Have not heard anyone say that about Kyle.

I guess there may be a differnce in how you do it.

I remember DW when he was so upset with Sr and a few others also.

The fans still loved Sr and cheered everytime he took the lead or won. I would guess maybe a difference in personalities from Sr to kyle.

I have no idea why other than that. Maybe attitude or arrogance.

Now, back to the subject at hand, lucky Jr.

Ah, no. You're not going to make that statement and get away with it.

A shot in the rear bumper does not equal being hooked in the right-rear going down the straightaway at full speed, so yes, we definitely CAN blame him for that and can't wait to witness his rapture in the very near future. Candyland is going down, and it's going to hurt worse than it did when a 65 year old man went to beatin' on his thick, rat-faced skull and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I would agree that someone is going to take him down on the track at the right time.

That's why I say he cannot win a champiopnship as he has way to many enemies on the track.

I would love to see Kyle's car taken out but no injury to him.

The statement above by rbb sounds like a Kyle excuse for doing it.

Wanderer,

What year did that happen? Check some references.......

Score one for you and Wikipedia... I'll have to mention that to just about everyone I talk NASCAR with since we've all considered him a non-winning champ. Vegas baby!

To the topic of the thread: I think JR is having a pretty good year this year also.

Peace out. wink

I hear ya Harvey!

It doesn't bother me that some have a hatred for Jr. Heck, we all have our driver's we can't stand. It is the lack of reality and objectivity in some of the posts that gets me at times.

I have no love for Kyle Busch at all, but have no problem giving him credit when he has earned it. Some are just too blind in their hate to give credit where credit is due.

Saw this online today. I guess even though Jr has not won yet this season, some are talking that he may have a shot at the Championship.

First of all, the season is not over and never say never.

There are always firsts with everything rbb.

If Jr won a race in the next few weeks, all you would say it that was luck and Jr cannot drive or some lame reason why he had nothing to do with it.

No I don't think I would do that, I'm not a Jr hater or basher, I've said the same as others have on here in that I believe he's not as good of a driver as people make him up to be, that's all I've ever said, it's just my opinion and I don't think that makes me a Jr hater or basher.

I am not a Jr fan but I'm not a hater either. He seems like a nice guy and everything but for some reason it bothers me that everyone seems to love him because of his last name. Part of me feels sorry for the 88 a little. He has a lot to live up to. More than he possibly can. It would take several cup titles for him to get out from under his Dad's shadow and I don't think that will ever happen. Kyle Petty's kind of in the same boat except his dad was able to retire and fade off into the sunset. Sr.'s career was ended in a flash leaving a giant void that was forced onto Jr. IMO

I follow the 18 mostly because he is the heel. For some reason I've always like the heel in sports - maybe there's something wrong with me I guess. I don't hate any of the drivers out there. I just love the one everyone else seems to hate. When Kyle takes that bow after a win it and everyone boos and throws stuff at him it just makes me laugh. The thing I like about Kyle is he will do just about anything to win. He has a huge desire to take the checkered flag and I love that. What I don't like is the way he hides and runs away from a confrontation caused by his actions. He's learning to control himself a little bit but lets face it, Kyle will always be Kyle. One thing he does do is create drama and drama sells. Which is great for NASCAR. I just hope he doesn't seriously hurt someone while creating the drama.

Well said TG.

I agree Jr could never live up to what some fans seem to believe he can do.

Jr is a good racer, I should say far better than average as his records shows.

With his fathers death and then the issues at DEI, I believe that also set him back a bit.

Then the move to HMS and I think he may have thought it was going to be a piece of cake or a walk in the park. Wrong.

This year with his new crew chief and the fact that I believe Jr has taken things a bit more serious, it shows in his finishes and how well he has ran.

I am sure he wants to win more than anyone else and they will come. I am also sure he puts way too much pressure on himself to get the win but it will come.

Who in the world would like to try and fill his fathers shoes? I do not believe there is more than one or two out there now that may have a shot at that.

Sr brought so much to NASCAR besides his wins and championships.

As far as Kyle goes, he will grow up one day. It took his brother Kurt awhile but he did and I am sure that Kurt tries to help Kyle with his attitude.

An old Tom Petty song comes to mind after another poor weekend..."Free Fallin".

Jr. and LeTarte better get their hind ends in gear, as the last 4 races have looked a lot like races from the last 2 years.

The worst job on the world is being JR's crew chief... as they get the blame for everything

C'mon Sled...I don't recall saying it was only LeTarte who needed to kick it in gear. I mentioned Jr. also. He still is in 8th place in the standings though.
