GPS would be a neat option but in reality how practical would it be to use over a hand held that fits in your pocket for ice fishing.
I agree a handheld gps is nice, but I dont want some itty bitty screen when driving around on the lake with my ATV or sled. I like to drive to the spot, take the unit off the machine and continue to use it for fishing. Works slick, plus this way there is no need to carry additional units just for fishing.

If the LX7 had a GPS option, I would get it and sell my lx3 in an instant.

Judging by your screenname, your species of preference obviously means you are going to spend a lot more time/money fishing in the summer than winter... I don't have any stats to back it up but I think it is pretty safe to say there are a lot more people who ice fish than open water fish. Just look how the ice fishing forum consistently has more viewers than the open water forum for almost the entire year. I know a lot of guys who only ice fish and dont even get in the boat in the summer unless its for a cruise around the lake with a cooler of beverages.

Yes you may spend a lot of $ on gas in the boat but others spend just as much throughout the hard water season in the snowmobile towing their portables, in their trucks driving on the ice to fish and/or pull the wheelhouse, in the 4 wheeler, in the auger, in the generator for the wheelhouse, etc. Its all relative... If you are a musky guy, most of your fishing is going to be done open water.

What are we even arguing about again?? I think the heat is getting to all of us... Can't wait to be back on the ice and viewing sunsets like this one on LOTW in my SnoBear grin

Nope, it's not even close. Open water anglers far outnumber ice anglers.

I'd be willing to bet there is a lot more fisherpeople during open water season than there is during ice. I don't even see it being close.

Don't go by views on a message board. A lot of people have nothing better to do than surf the net during the winter months.

Actually, look at it this way, there is ONE BOARD dedicated to ice fishing and we now have some new products coming out so it makes sense it is seeing activity.

Open water fishing there are more boards than I can count, well I could, but I dont want to.

They could go to a species specific forum, the location specific forums, etc.

You really wouldnt be going to those places right now to talk about ice fishing now would you?

Regarding my spends on tackle, I havent spent one single dollar that would be attributed to musky fishing this year. Tackle, etc I mean.

Its been spent on walleyes and panfish. I already have countless thousands of dollars of 1 pound lures, I dont need more, but wait, my 2 year old does. LOL

So the specific species forums and location forums are for open water only and not ice fishing?? People post ice fishing stuff all the time in the species and locations forums and many others. Its more about time of year than anything else. Regardless, I wasn't basing my conclusion on forum views. I was however basing my conclusion on the fact that I don't know anyone who only open water fishes but doesn't ice fish, and I know several people who only ice fish and don't open water fish. Maybe I just don't know enough old folks who don't like the cold wink

my comment was you don't go to species specific or regional and talk ice fishing now, as in summer, hence the reason you see more views in ice fishing than open water right now because the viewers are spread out. The reverse would be the case in winter.

I love the cold, beats the heck out of what were dealing with now.

Back on track. Now that icast has past. When and where is the next step for lx7 to be seen?

Id bet we'll be seeing more videos, pictures, and info on a regualr basis leading up to an October-ish release date... whistle

I had an initial comcern with the thing not having a GPS but the more I think about it... its not a biggie for me. When walking or riding the handheld is perfect...

Cant wait! grin

GPS or not, this thing is still a seller.

I hope they will have enough production units ready at the onset. At least until I get my hands on one.

If only the unit was interchangeable with my VX1 gray softpack, so the wifey wouldn't know the difference. But she rarely goes with me so she may not notice! muawhahahah!!

Just tell her the dog chewed up the old case and you needed to get a new one.

If you think every fishermen has a $40,000 boat and another $2,000 in electronics, you are sadly mistaken.

Your right I have a $3000 boat and $2000 in electronics, including trolling motor... and planning on adding at least one maybe 2 more units...

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
