I wanted to post a good tarp tip for people with leaky tarps.

So last year I bought a boat that had an older canvase tarp on it, that had lost it's water proofing. I didnt't want to pay a ton of money for water proofing for canvas tarps since I was most likley going to buy a new tarp in a year or two, so here is what I did and it still works well this spring after sitting through winter covered in snow.

I went down to my local hardware shop, and bought some wood sealer, water proofer. i bought a gallon of it for like 18 bucks, and just brushed it on like a paint. I put 2 coats on and it works great. It did not discolor the tarp, and a full year later it is still 100% water proof.

When i wanted to water proof the canvas cover for my boat, i used the spray on stuff from wal mart. It worked too.

Can you fold it up anymore? Or is it like a plastic tent now?

I was going to recommend the spray-on stuff like camp dry, 3 or 4 cans of the stuff would work well on a full cover

Thompson's Water Seal and works just fine on canvas.

So does 50/50 Linseed oil and paint thinner.

Use a lawn and garden sprayer to apply.

Isn't classic Thompson's just paraffin dissolved in some sort of solvent?

Tarp has shown no adverse effects what so ever, it has the same texture and pliability it had before I did it.

Okay, that makes sense, I had polyurethane stuck in my head for some reason. Thompsons Water Seal is a good idea.
