All Minnesota teams are terrible

SkunkedAgain

i don't ever expect the wolves to win it all.

i'm probably most disappointed with the wild. when half the league makes the playoffs, and when mn is the state of hockey, not making the playoffs just ain't gonna cut it.

the vikes will be good again, maybe next year. the nfl has shown you can be terrible one year and great the next. it happens every year. winning the super bowl has about as much to do with luck as it does with talent.

the twins are obviously a good organization. they've shown a good formula for staying competitive by developing their own talent. they've suffered from mental meltdowns in the playoffs.

the gophers are just insane. why can't they be good? i don't get it.

For those of you complaining about how bad MN sports teams are, well why don't you just go move to a state that doesn't have any pro sports teams.

The last time I checked, the Vikings played in the game to go to the superbowl 2 seasons ago. The Twins have been in the playoffs 6 of the last 10 years. The Wild have been in the playoffs 3 out of the 9 seasons of their existance including 2 of the last 4 years (including a run to the conference finals in 2003). And the timberwolves, well..... They are the timberwolves.

My point is if you are expecting a championship every season, why don't you go move to New York and cheer for those teams. The reality of a franchise is you have good years as well as bad years. You can't expect a team to win their division and make the playoffs every year. It just doesn't work like that and I feel sorry for those of you with that high of expectations. You must have a lot of letdowns in your life besides your favorite sport teams.

Wanting your home teams to win a championship every year is completely respectable. Expecting them to do so is completely unrealistic.

New York

Mets

Yankees

Jets

Nicks

Rangers

I guess maybe I could enjoy going to Mets or Rangers games, but IMO I wouldn't enjoy sports anywhere near as much as rooting for the Twins. Everything about New York sports is overrated, especially the Yankees.

what CITY is that windy? last time I checked, we weren't the Minneapolis Twins, Minneapolis Vikings, Minneapolis Timberwolves or Saint Paul Wild. We have more pride in our state rather than just one city. Whens the last time Orlando Hills won a championship in any pro sports? grin

you must still be bitter about the white sox choke of a season last year. only chiming in when you can get your licks. classic windy

He's just jabbing me about my Cubbies not making it FIVE teams with championships....could be our year...but don't bet on it.

WINDY....Cass is coming.

And wouldn't it be great if the Hawks pick-it-up now to make the push for a repeat? I'll be on Cass during the Finals and may even give up chasing Rockies if the Hawks are in the Finals..AGAIN.

I wonder if JW knows: What's the last STATE with a 3-peat?

And speaking of Orland Hills....whatever happened to the Schaumburg Sox?

I hear that the field is available now that that minor league team is caput.

No STATE team has ever 3 peat in the NBA. only teams to do it are Minneapolis, Boston, Chicago and LA.

Hockey: Islanders, Canadians, Maple Leafs

MLB: Yankees and Oakland

If you consider NYY to be a "state" team, they would be the most recent 3 peat (98-00)

Thanks for the warm welcome back. Not sure if I want to get back into the craziness but it is nice to know I am always welcomed back. It has been a little over 6 months since my mom passed and I know I have not been myself. With my Pale Hose signing Dunn and Crain I should be jabbing about the upcoming season but I just don't have the spark yet.

I did say yet!

Also with the Hawks chasing the repeat and the Bulls dominating the NBA it is hard to find another city with as much crowing rights as I do but, again, I just don't have the spark.

Don't think I am not watching, and I do check the posts in here every now and then but not like the days of past. Getting a bit older, wiser, only time will tell! LOL

JW, even your 10,000 lake brethern see you are spouting nonsense there. Admit that Chicago is the one and only town to produce champions in all 4 major sports in the last quarter of a century!

Bears looking good, not great.

Pale Hose optimistic, results to follow.

Hawks, chasing the redream, results to follow sooner.

Bulls, almost everybodys pick to win it all, plus MVP D Rose and Tommy T as coach of the year.

Put a nice walleye lake in my back yard and I would save about $400 dollars a year on gas! LOL

you also have the franchise that has gone longer than any other team in professional sports without winning a championship (103 years), but you seem to fail to ever mention the cubs. funny how you left them out of the discussion. and don't bring up the "they aren't my team, i'm a sox fan" argument, because if your as big of a "chicago" fan as you say you are, you would care about ALL your teams (not just the ones that are winning). you can't just have two teams and hop on whatever bandwagon is going the direction you want

its funny every year how you talk up the sox all year long and then when they finally have their annual choke, you disappear for a while. happens every year (not just last year)

and your defending champs hawks are on the verge of not making the playoffs.... how is that for a repeat performance?

and the bulls are "everybodys" pick to win it? now THAT is a knee slapper... a little earlier to be counting your chickens. with 2 other great teams in the east, they are anything but a lock to even come out of that conference. the bulls will never and have never done anything impressive without jordan

Sheesh Windy, you stay away 6 mos and come back to rile up the younguns without even really trying. Be proud though 'cause your meer presence raises the anticipation of another season jabbering.

Don't let anyone keep you away---as if!

But if they try to institute a rule that you gotta stay onboard chatting even after your team is done, you might have a problem.

(Bud, anytime one loses a parent they are entitled to recovery time no matter when or for how long)

JW,

Po-tay-to Po-tah-to

City State

Chicago Illinois

Minnesota ?

A matter of semantics maybe...

Do we think it is great for our STATE if either CITY team wins? Of course.

but it is not ok for a true WSox fan to cheer for my Cubs....we don't want their support and would rather go another 103 yrs without it.

And if you know the business of sports and big-money, you know why the Hawks are chasing a spot this year.

Re: "everybody's pick" --- methinks Windy has season tickets.

But you can't deny their record and chances.

And their chances are definitely not Slim, Fat, or None.

Not bad without anyone named Jordan on the team, that's for sure.

Now, as to football----I am celebrating my Packer SBowl victory.

Take that Windy!

Gene, if you read my post I said it happens every year not just last year

And as for the cubs, I was making a point as to if your going to talk about how awesome you think all your Chicago teams are, you can't just leave out one because you want to.

As for the bears and hawks... well... even a blind squirel finds a nut every once in a while grin

I kinda think he leaves when he does 'cause he really likes being missed by his chat buddies...it's kinda like his 'mysterious personna-non grata"...and not that he can't take it as well as dish it out.

Hey, what am I doin' defending a WSox fan, anyway?

Must be the pride in our state.....or the fact I know he never wants a battle of wits when he is unarmed!

Gonna be another interesting season.

And I can't wait for all of us to stir the pot.

You see Sled, I was a youngun when the Pack won the first 2 SBowls and I stayed on ever since. That, and also probably because I couldn't stand to see my Dad watching the Bears and usually swearing about how they stink, how many penalties they took, how they had an unimaginative offense (run right, run left, run up the middle, punt). I do think Sayers was about the best I ever saw (I was too young to remember Hornung).

I more or less watch football in the winter just to have something to do while swigging a tall frosty one.

For me with da Bears it is pretty much like with the WSox --- I watch them to see them lose.

I was happy for the city when the Bears won---I just would not do the Super Bowl Shuffle though (or sing it, thank God).

Thanks Geno for the kind words. JW can not possibly fathom the rivalry within a city that has two professional teams in the same sport because he does not have such a luxury. You know that I have told my story dozens of times how I became such a loyal Pale Hoser and how my hatred for the Completly Useless By September gang otherwise known as the "wait till next year" club! LOL I won't rehash old stories, I will let others who have heard my story retell it in their words, that is the thing that legends are made of. I lost my father 12 years ago and while it was hard it was nothing compared to my mom. My dad worked a lot and worked shifts that found me at school while he was home and working while I was at home. Just the way it was. My mother was the person who raised me most. She was a die hard Sox fan and took me to hundreds of games. I think I told you the story of her passing my autograph Snoopy around the Sox dugout and getting Tommy John's signature right down the middle of his nose!

So listen up young and old, it is time for me to pass the torch and listen as you tell and retell my stories. Let the bitter ones blow past you like a fart in the wind but keep the good ones going. Think of me like Elvis or Jim Morrison, not sure if I am dead or alive but the stories live on.

We come here with nothing, and take it with us the day we leave.

The first and the last breaths don't matter, it's all the ones that are inbetween.

Live in the inbetween fellas!

Windy

In your above quote, I would assume the 2 teams your refering to are your lovely Sox, and the poor Cubbies? You know what they say about assumptions, but if you call the Cubs Completly Useless By September gang what do you call the White sox and their multiple late season collapse's that consistantly happen?

Good to see you back windy, hopefully you will continue to stir the pot even after the sox become useless by September. smile

In all seriousness, Windy you know I was pulling your chain. As much as I hate the White Sox, I love debating superiorness, especially with a pale tube like yourself.
