soldoncass
Rices agent said he will test the FA market first.....so if the Vikes draft a #1 receiver, while he is "testing", we may not even look his way after he changes his mind.
FISHINGURU
Rice's agent is a jackwagon, that would be funny if we drafted a WR then he decides he wants to play here and we say nah. Then he ends up playing somewhere for less money then what we offered.
SkunkedAgain
If those 2 receivers we signed from the CFL and Bears practice squad work out, it won't hurt so much if we lose Rice. Still need to draft 1 I think, to have more options. I can't resist.....Hoping that receivers from THE BEARS and the CFL will work out is like hoping that it won't snow this March. ted4887
I really can't see Rice leaving. I can't blame him for testing the market. Most FA's will to some extent. He just wants to get the money he is worth, and the Vikes will have the chance to offer it. Now, if you're going to talk draft, i'd stick to getting a QB. If you could trade up at all to get to Gabbert, that would be great. I think he is the one QB other than Newton that has a huge upside. SkunkedAgain
What about trading the Vikings second or third round pick to Cincinnati for Carson Palmer? You could still draft a QB with the first round pick or with the other 2nd/3rd round pick.
Scott K
We dont have a 3rd round pick, that was Randy Moss.
FISHINGURU
I already laid the plan out for you guys in the Vikings Offseason thread this morning lol
bottomdweller
One good year, I remember when culpepper had one good year and look what that got us. Im sick of players having one good year and demanding more.Let him go, we dont have squat this year anyway with no qb.
chanfish
After looking at all the mocks, I think we now take locker at 12 if he is there. His value is rising. Then we make our first big move and trade up in 2nd round and get pouncey. Might cost us a 5th or 6th. This would be a qb and center combo for next ten years...Bring them in together...Studwell-Frazier--you gotta make this happen....we cant afford to miss on this draft otherwise it could be years to rebuild... zepman
Even with this scenario...it will still take years to rebuild.
Rymann
We need to draft Julio Jones if he is availible....Wait till the second round and either go for Mallett, or Colin Kaepernick (yes I believe Mallett will be a second rounder). Rice has only had the one great season, is always hurt, and it sounds like he is developing an attitude. Gabbert wont be anything in the NFL...Mark that one down. klecker
Looks like Rice got caught up in a credit card scam. Rice
soldoncass
Jones is good, but I don't think he will be available for us. I like Hankinson....he will be. There are several "blue chippers" available this year....a couple should be there at #12(not QBs though). If one we like is there, we'll take him (D or OL)....if not I expect to move down to get more picks. BPA in first spot, then a QB in second round, and BPA in extra pick we got (2nd or 3rd hopefully). This is a deep draft for D line, so we can afford to wait a couple rounds for that position. The positions that aren't deep in this draft, are the ones we need to go hard for.(S, OL, WR,TE)
Born2Fish
I heard Randy Moss say he wouldn't mind coming back to Minnesota...
soldoncass
He's "stumping" for whoever will take him....New England and Mn specifically. He didn't run routes effectively last year, so I pass. He was a great weapon...when he tried. If the media would just have stayed away from him, he wouldn't have had 1/2 the problems he did. chanfish
If they want locker they better take him at 12. Then bring in a veteran qb, mcnabb for one year or maybe palmer if he gets cut. Otherwise its best available ol or dl in first round and hope that dalton or ponder is there in second round.Dont trade down and lose your value pick. Locker may get taken within next 5 picks of vikes so they may as well take him at 12.
pikerliker
Rice was hurt one season (not always hurt) and plays like a stud. We need to hang on to him and replace that porous offensive line which is the MAIN reason that we didn't win squat last year. ~piker
A R Johnson
We just need to take best player available! We got alot of holes. Heard one mock draft having peterson falling to us that would be awesome!
Scott K
I would take Peterson in a heart beat! Unfortunately he will be gone by the #4 pick.
A R Johnson
Yeah I know but the mock draft had 4 qb's going in the top ten (never going to happen).
pikestabber
(We had a) porous offensive line which is the MAIN reason that we didn't win squat last year. Agree 100%. McKinnie has been overrated since we signed him (look at how many holding penalties he gets--absurd! The mark of someone who cannot do his job the right way), and unfortunately, Loadholt just followed in his footsteps. We need O line help bad! I wouldn't care if we used the first two picks on OL. chanfish
rebuilding both lines offense and defense is a good start. i dont think we have the luxury to take locker at 12...take the best o/l first and then draft defense-tackle and end after that. if a blue chipper, peterson or akumura fall to us then we almost have to take them. that will be a last minute opportunity we seize on. green bay built with defense--mathews,raji, hawk etc and that seemed to work for them. we have some good off skill players, we just need a line. pouncey at center/guard would almost be better than risking our pick on a qb who may be a bust.. zepman
Green Bay built by finding a #1 qb...they would be just another middle of the road team without him.
FISHINGURU
Middle of the road is being nice.
chanfish
well im no packer backer but defense does win championships and the packers were no exception. i would not consider GB to be an offensvie juggernaut.. remember dilfer? also they didnt exactly find rogers. he fell to them all the way thru first round and took a few years of watching the master to develop. so we will wait and see. i cant stand the thought of rogers and cutler carving us apart like last year because we could not rush the passer or cover squat..matchups--thats why we gotta get some D in this draft...
