Former 49ers coach Mike Singletary has confirmed he's been hired to be the linebackers coach/assistant head coach for the Vikings.

Singletary will be reunited with former Bears teammate Leslie Frazier. He'll be taking over for Fred Pagac, who is expected to be promoted to defensive coordinator. It will be Frazier's defense, though.

Great player, but as a coach? From what I've seen, 49ers fans don't exactly miss him.

He'll be an outstanding position coach...it's not unusual for a 1st time head coach (without a qb) to go down in flames.

He'll bring the type of "fire" this team will need with the easy going Frazier as the head coach.

After watching the play off games the last two weeks, I noticed that the vikes defense doesn't show the toughness / swagger / attitude / "We're gonna Stop you" / "You come over the middle, your gonna get hit hard" attitude as the winning teams currently in the play offs.

We need to get a few players in here that have some mental toughness to them. I dont think any of our dbacks put fear into anyone. Our Lb'ers are OK, but Leber is not no Harrison or Claymaker.

Perhaps Singletary will get some of that mental toughness and swagger into our defense. I like his approach as a coach. Play hard or go home.

He is TOUGH and part of why they got rid of him was players getting into it with him. The last game he coached there was video of him yelling at the QB on the sidelines after an interception. So what if the player whines about that- its the coaches job to instill discipline. I actually thought Tice was a pretty good head coach, BUT- he wasn't tough enough. He acted like he wanted to be all the players buddys, and they walked all over him.

I like this but a bit apprehensive. I never watched him while at the 49ers and to be booted out so soon seems like maybe his coaching style does not fit with some. We will see how it goes that is all we can do.

One thing, when are Vikings ever going to get their own identity. Whats next a Lion on the roster.

Singletary was a great hire. He's a really good position coach and that's part of how he got the head job for the 49ers. He'll be great for the Vikings, will figure out how to be more effective as a head coach, and will eventually get another shot at the head job. If anything, he'll be instrumental in helping Leslie avoid some of the new coach pitfalls that Singletary encountered.

Mark it down: he may take over from Leslie if Frazier can't produce.

    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
