Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this system yet. Im thinking of getting one but dont know how well it works. Got to see in on the In-fisherman Ice fishing guide show but thats just not enough for me to go out and buy one.

The only real advantage is the vertical screen but it's the only one. They work ok but remember they are a LCD unit and are not real time like a flasher. You can't beat 3 color technology and real time flasher unit.

What do you mean by "not real time"? I use a Lowrance Ice Machine. It is all LCD. It is in real time. I can watch a fish come up to my bait and watch my bobber drop the same as any other flasher. I have not seen a showdown in action so I cannot attest to a delay for that unit. I have sat next to many flashers and we all see the same thing, sometimes I see more due to the graph function. I do have to sit about 20 feet or more away from other flashers so my transducer does not blown out of the water mad, that is a little frustrating

This is my first season with the Showdown 5.6. I think it is a pretty nice unit. Very simple to use, lots of power and yes it is real time. I think that may have been the concern at one time for lcd units but I really do not see any delay in the display. It reacts the same as the vexilar and marcum when I have fished them side by side. I have been a color flasher user for 20 years so it is a bit of an adjustment to now watch black and white. But overall a great unit. I would buy one again.

well Im not hearing anything bad. Never liked the 3 color fancy flasher ones anyways so this would be my first computer on ice. Sounds like Im going to buy one. how heavy are they by chance?

Is there much difference beteween getting the dual beam vs. the single the price difference is only $50

i just got one( mainly for late summer and fall fishing suspenders) and after a couple of hours of playing with i can tell you it is a nice unit. incredibly easy to set up and operate, very good definition and separation, and while, not an expert about lcd's and real time, can attest to when you see a fish move up to your bait and hits it there was no descernible delay. looking forward to using more this weekend and really looking forward to fall slab chasing!

They are certainly real time. I have logged some good time on mine and i can honestly say theres no delay or lag at all. The unit is fairly light and by that i mean that the battery used to power it outweighs it. Another nice thing is that it is software based so if and when they come out with a new upgrade you just bring your unit in and they can download the new software to it and then you have the latest offering without having to buy a new unit. I have and have used the color flashers and i have no problem with them but from my experience with this unit i will probably not be going back to a flasher. My vexilar has become my backup unit.

Digital depth readout, 1/2 inch target seperation, they are real time, no whirring flasher noise, the troller can be carried around in your pocket or used in a small boat, very simple to operate, I'm colorblind and don't care if it's black and white. The list goes on and on about the advantages.

I also have an LX-5 and love it. It's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Iffin I were to buy another sonar today it would be either a troller or the dual beam Showdown.

Hey PurpleFloyd,

I started a thread on this last year. Final conclusion, some people seem to have my issue and some people seem to have no issue. Honestly I cannot beleive that yours will work the way you said, but I will take your word. Here is the thread with all of the deatils with my issue:

I would really like to hear your input if you would have something to add. I wish I could sit a little closer to my buddy when we are out fishing. His Markum blows my unit out of the water.

Thanks,

Josh

Marcums put out so much power, they overpower the others capabilities......in fact I suspect that is WHY they went with the power they did AND THE SAME FREQUENCY TRANSDUCER wink. I don't have an answer for you, but......if your frequency was DIFFERENT, the marcum would have NO EFFECT whistle. I've been doing some searches on that myself....

Hi Josh.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I will help if I can. I just got home from Long lake and sitting in a two man flip over I had the x67c working next to both a vex fl 18 and the hummingbird and it worked with no interferance issues at all.

I set the surface clarity to high and the noise rejection to medium and everything else works fine. For what I paid for the unit (170 dollars) at scheels I am very happy.

then explain to me what im actually seeing when im jigging if it isnt my jig moving in real time to my jig snap and explain to me what im seeing when i see the fish approach my bait and strike it in real time. i see the fish approach and when its on my bait low and behold my bobber moves or my rod tip bounces with the strike. If that isnt real time then i have seriously missed the boat.

Straight from the Vexilar HSOforum "Even if the LCD is operating in an "instantaneous" mode, the actual pixels cannot light, and turn off, as fast as a neon or LED display. As far as freezing, we, and most manufacturers have designed that problem away. At least for the average fishermen, anyway."

Sorry, just my opinion and fact per many researches that if you can read the 3 color flasher correctly it will show a better real time display. Same reasoning behind a better resolution on an LED screen compared to a LCD screen on a flat screen TV.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
