Shack
Quote: ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier has told his two incumbent coordinators they're free to pursue other jobs while their future with the team is clarified. Frazier said on Sunday night he has delivered a clear and honest message -- "don't wait for me" -- to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and special-teams coordinator Brian Murphy as the search continues for coaches who could replace them. "We're trying to get some things done," Frazier said as he left an interview at KSTP-TV's studio. "We'll make some decisions here real soon." Frazier interviewed Josh McDaniels on Friday as a potential replacement for Bevell, who -- like Murphy and others -- was hired by former coach Brad Childress. "Don't Wait for Me" cracks me up. Things could get interesting next year and I figured it was going to be one of the slowest seasons on record. Totally missed judged Les and really am starting to like him. Like with most things you guys are right in here. Just have to break the "I was wrong" barrier to see the positives. lol "Don't Wait for Me". Good stuff. Steve Foss
Hm, "Don't wait for me" was a masterful way of putting it. Clear, honest, a certain amount of tact in a usually tactless sport. You guys might have yourselves a winner there.
zepman
A respectful move made by a long time assistant himself. Jobs are being filled NOW...I'm sure Les and Bevell are good friends they just probably don't share the same philosophies about our future offense. FISHINGURU
McDaniels would rule as our offensive coordinator.I hope Frazier cleans house.
PierBridge
I like it, the best move so far is the Defensive coordinator was removed from his position and rightfully so after the horrid season he had!...
spearchucker
All I can say is he better produce wins because all the talk and whatever doesn't mean anything or else he will be looking for a job as well.
FISHINGURU
Our defense played pretty good for being on the field 90% of the season.
spearchucker
Our defense played pretty good for being on the field 90% of the season. I guess I would disagree with that statement. I think overall they played pretty bad. Secondary was terrible and our supposedly great defensive line was pretty tame. I thought the linebackers played pretty well though. Big Dave2
Our defense played pretty good for being on the field 90% of the season. If the defense played so well, they wouldn't be on the field so much.
otto_man
A defense that played pretty bad and you hire the person that was running the show to be your next head coach?? Good luck with that!! Go Packers...
FISHINGURU
Yeah ok, we were ranked 9th in the league against the run and 10th in the league against the pass. It's not the defense fault that the offense can't get first downs and move the chains. Eventually when your on the field all game you get wore down. Our D was the only reason we were in the games that we were in.

But.......if the D would hold the opposition to a 3 and out occasionally or even get a turn-over they wouldn't be on the field as much and the offense would get more opportunities per game.It works both ways. zepman
I believe the Vikings D was still a top 10 defense...overall.
FISHINGURU
Thanks for the info, I forgot how it all worked.Funny, our offense was ranked 10th in rushing and 26th in passing, not to mention ranked 29th in scoring. We couldn't score, I remember tons of times this season we got the ball back and could of done something with it and nothing happened. We had a top 10 defense but were in the bottom half dozen for offense plain and simple.
spearchucker
Face it, the whole team sucked this year...Couldn't score, allowed too many long passes and first downs, and the special teams wasn't very good either. You are both right.
lawdog
If you think that Defense was good, you didn't watch much football. The secondary can't cover at all, what were we in game 9 before they had an INT? They also can't tackle with the exception of Winfield.D line got not nearly the pressure they had last year either.whole team was not good... FISHINGURU
LOL Lawdog sounds like you didn't watch much football besides the Vikes. The facts are we were ranked 10th against the pass this season. Not to bad when your playing with 4th and 5th stringers at corner and you have the worst player in football Madieu out there. We got torched sometimes but it wouldn't of been such a big deal if we could score on offense. There was 20 defenses out there worse then ours no matter how you slice it.
