deerminator
What should I do with it. I freeze the turkey bones and make good turkey soup but any suggestions for the two ham bones I have left from Christmas day. I left some meat on each since suprisingly, the 30 people we had over didnt clean it up. Most likely because we had a ton of other food and plenty of desserts! Thanks in advance for any recipes anyone can offer!
highlife4me
Throw it in with a kettle of bean soup or baked potato soup for a little extra flavor. I'm not much of a recipe guy just add whatever you think tastes good together.

pushbutton
when it is below zero, not much better than split pea or potato soup slow cooked with the x-mas pig leftovers!
PEATMOSS
Fill a stock pot about 3/4 full of chicken broth and boil that bone for about half an hour. Add chopped carrots, celery and onions and cook until just tender. Add 1+cup rinsed wild rice and reduce to simmer until rice is cooked. Remove meat from bone and add some ham scraps, and chopped chicken or turkey leftovers(preferably something that was smoked or grilled).Add about 3/4 of a brick of velveta and stir til melted. Soup can be thinned with additional chicken stock or milk.

DonBo
No such thing as a soup recipe in our house. Boil it clean and add whatever you got around the house. My wife just did this. She added some wild rice, carrots, mushrooms, potatos and I'm honestly not sure what else, but I know it was good!

deerminator
Thanks for the ideas guys. I was looking for general ideas and recipes. I agree that when cooking, I often change it up. And not a lot of measuring. However, you do have to have somewhat of the right ingredients on hand to make food taste good. So just throwing stuff in there only goes so far. : ) I think I am going to go for a creamy wild rice choweder based on several recipes I've looked up. Thx again. deerminator
So I gave it a shot today and it turned out really good. I threw both ham bones into the crockpot with a good amount of chicken stock plus a can of cream of mushroom soup. Then I added diced carrots, celery and onions and a good amount of wild rice. Let it go on low and pulled out the hambones at noon, pulled off all the meat and threw it back in the crockpot. Addes a little water and then let it go the rest of the day on low. About an hour before supper, added some heavy whipping cream and milk. About half/half. Man it turned out really good. Better than anything I've ever had in a restaurant of that sort. Thanks for the tips and advice as always guys.
