Cheap solution?

I want to keep slush and snow out of my new Clam Yukon.

The cover from Clam is $49.99, which I thought was quite spendy.

How about taking a blue tarp and sewing in heavy duty elastic material?

Anybody ever make their own fish house cover? Canvas maybe?

I have the cover for my one man scout and love it. In the summer it works to store it too. Its worth spending the 50 if you ask me.

I just bought a new flip over with the factory cover. If I made my own, I would take a tarp, add more grommets and run a rope through all the holes. Put it on and cinch it tight.

I have used the tarp idea kinda a pain but works, getting a cover for mine this year.

save yourself the hassel and the problems with a tarp tearing in the wind catching wind and flying off..etc and buy the $50 travel cover....both of my fishhouses have them and they are definatly worth the money!!

I agree get the manufacturers travel cover. Better material and it will stay on unlike a slippery tarp. Unless you get a high grade 600-900 canvas and have someone who can sew but then you will be into it for dang near the cost of one already made for your house.

I bought the cover for my yukon and love it cuz i can tuck up the tent part of house so nothing is hanging loose when i pull it with my sled.

I agree, that heavy waterproof fabric is spendy, and then the elastic and cords and the labor. You're going to be pretty close to the $50 to buy one.

There are a lot of rebates for stuff on the HSOforum, unfortunately the yukon doesn't look like one of them (they yukon TC is though)

The "Save Big Money at ..." store sometimes sells portable fish houses. When they do they sometimes sell the travel cover separately for them as well. I have a Yukon and bought one of the covers for $20 a few years ago. Fits it fine and was heavy duty.

You may want to consider making one out of the canvas materials the manufacturers use. I have done this in the past to save some coin, but as others have mentioned - now I go with the manufacturers. I would steer clear of the tarp material for it will not last long - if prototype is a must - go with canvas.
