Two good bits of news...

1) I'm headed to my mother-in-laws this afternoon to get my snowblower out of storage. I'll get to sit in the stand for the evening as a result of my poor planning! Even better, there's half a foot of fresh, powdery snow! My buddy was there last night and he said there's a pretty decent buck showing up on the trailcam during legal shooting time. He was a no-show last night, so maybe tonight...

2) I just made plans to head back to Western ND the first weekend in Dec. I had all but lost hope that I'd be able to get back out there again this year. Yippppeeee! That'll be fun! I'll bring my camera and given how little I'll probably get to hunt in Dec this year, I'll have very low standards! I should be able to find something to fling an arrow at. smile

Sounds like good news to me Scoot. Anytime you can spend time in the woods is a good thing. My coworker's out in western NoDak right now chasing mulies and whitetails around. Hope he packed his longjohns!

Heard a funny story from my father in-law this weekend... His "snowblower" (son) moved out that fall and a big storm dumped about 10" early that winter. With a bad back, shovelling wasn't an option. Out comes the gas can and after covering the whole driveway... tosses out a match... POOOOOOOF! I think he now owns a snowblower. grin

How much snow up that way Scoot? A few of the group are going up this Thursday and I am a little concerned about the road to the ranch from the bottom of the hill, across the bridge and too the house.

Any help on the snow on the ground now and the area forecast would help.

They do not plow the road from the bottom of the hill to the house much in the winter. They will be coming in 4 wheel drive trucks.

Thanks Scoot.

From what I can gather about where you hunt in ND (SE ND) I am hearing that there was 8-10" of snow on the ground from Monday west of that area a ways. The report was that it was "the light fluffy stuff" though and that you can drive right through it without any trouble still.

Yep, InTheNorthwoods is exactly right-- about 8" and very light and fluffy. I'd guess they'll make it down to the house just fine. It may have drifted over some through that stretch, but with how light this stuff is, I think they'll be OK.

Tell them to drive very carefully- we just started getting some freezing rain and the roads are headed into the tank, it appears. I'm headed to get my kids and then to my parents' house in about 10 minutes.

Safe travels to your crew, Tom. Tell them to leave at least one good buck out there for me to try find!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
