so, i'm a little curious. if a deer's rubbing on a telephone pole and gets through the wire like on that one in the picture, I'm assuming he'd be electrocuted? Anyone ever hear of that happening?

btw, monster rubs, never seen anything close to that outside of an elk ranch!!!!

Got any friends who are practical jokers? Anyone give you a "tip" to scout that area? Fake rubs have been know to be made for the "fun" of it. whistle Remember, if it's too good to be true........

That said, I hope you get him if it indeed is a whitetail.

UPDATE! i hung a stand about 75 yards from the big rub Wednesday afternoon. i crawled in at 2:49 and at 2:55pm i saw my first buck. it was a three year old 10pt. decent mass, and tine length. he came cruising by the rub and was headed straight for me. i grunted once; he instantly stiffened up! the wind was in my favor but he locked up hardcore. his posture suggested that there was a bigger buck and this 10pt (130in) was treading on his turf...

thursday, i sat the same stand that morning. the wind was swirling, but i managed to see 2 small bucks cruising.

friday morning... freezing drizzle made it a difficult to navigate my pickup! ha ha! i crawled into stand at 8AM! yikes! and the parade of bucks was already in full swing.

by 9:45 i had 7 bucks stroll by. and was able to see 2 different sparring matches take place!

still, not a single buck (out of the 10 i saw) had come within 20 yards of the big rub!

i elected to get down, and loop back to the truck because i had to work in a few hours.

in the next several moments, my jaw hit the ground a few times! shortly after stepping off stand, i was in the midst of a hot doe who had many suiters. the next 45 min were awesome! i watched buck after buck try to get close to her, but a nice 135'' buck kept chasing them off! suddenly, a 2.5 year old came in trotting and distracted the 135''er.... a big boy moved in~ i watched him take charge as the doe bedded down. seemed like an eternity (about a half hour), but he finally offered me a shot! my arrow flew just below his vitals.... not even aware of what just happened he kept chasing all the other bucks off!

the doe eventually stood up and the parade of bucks moved on! but boy oh boy was that fun to see!

but it was a tough pill to swallow; i had just missed the biggest buck i've ever come to full draw on by and inch or two.

i scored him on the hoof at 158'' as an 8pt...but i'd sure like to ground check him!
