My X fell in the toilet today.

Recommended Posts

No, not my wife, not even an exwife if I had one.

I had my Droid X in my shirt pocket, went to do the duty, and when I went to flush the toilet, the phone fell in.

Needless to say, Droids are nice, until they're wet.

I have insurance on the phone, but it's an $89 deductible.

I called Asurion to file a claim, and they don't have any.

I guess my phone calls will have to wait a week - 10 days.

The biggest disappointment is I'd "3 starred" the first 30-40 levels of Angry Birds.

Not only that, but I don't have a radio to listen to for a while.

I couldn't wait for all of the drying out tricks.

Firewood season is full bore right now so I had to cross my fingers and hope, and it worked for about 3 minutes, but then the screen went out.

I called Asurion, but an X is on backorder 7-10 days through them.

I had a phone line that was "upgradeable" and I've been thinking about getting a Droid capable phone for the wife so kids can use it when they're with her.

I stopped by Verizon and they took an extra $50 off of an incredible for me, so I upgraded the wife's phone to that, but left it on my line for now.

When I get my "X" from Asurion, I'll switch the Incredible to her line, and reactivate my X on mine.

But yeah, the phone took a c r a p today, this time literally.

I got my insurance replacement today.

App Brain is good, it reinstalled some paid apps that I'd forgotten about, plus of the free ones that I had.

Backup Assistant already has the contacts back in place as it was on the old phone.

Now if only there was an app or a backup program that would automatically set up all of your accounts again on the new phone so you didn't have to put the info for each one, then it'd be a piece of cake.

And no, the old one is not a paperweight, it's going back to Asurion.

I wonder if they'd ever check for that memory card?

No, take it out! If they do ask for it, it's 47cents postage to send it in. But I doubt they will ever look. But make sure you reformat it before you give it back, incase there is any personal information on it.

There's personal info, but there's no way to power it up. At least I can't do it.

I've thought about accidently running over the envelope that the phone gets put into to be sent back.

BTW, I'm pretty sure I received a NEW replacement, not a refurb. I've gotten refurbs before and this X looks and feels brand new.

Oh, sorry, I meant personal information on THE CARD if you have to send it back. I realize the phone is toast.

Lawnie if you have your new X, take the sd card out of your old and put that one in there. Maybe they didn't even ship an SD card in the replacement phone. Either way swapping the new one for your old one should be fine.

If you do not wanna do that you can still put your old SD card in your new X and format the SD card from the phone or plug your X into the computer and format the sd card that way!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
