Moon w/ Sigma 150-500 & 1.4 TC

Recommended Posts

The Sigma 150-500 works pretty well with the Sigma 1.4 TC. Manual focus, and it gets pretty slow at F9, but certainly usable under the right conditions. This shot was taken hand held (OS works great too), standing, one elbow resting on the roof of my car:

Almost a 100% crop, the crop is 892px wide, this is resized down to 800 wide. In the original shot the moon is 1,060 px tall

NIKON D300S

ISO: 400

Exposure: 1/320 sec

Aperture: 11.0

Focal Length: 700mm

Thanks everyone, I was pretty happy to get this one, possibly the most detailed moon shot I've captured yet.

Don't worry to much Sue, it can be funny what automatic word filters pick up on sometimes. smile

That would take quite a lens to see the LEM - it would sure burst the bubble of the moon conspiracy people, wouldn't it? smile

I've had this lens for a couple of years now, the Sigma teleconverter is new to me though. It works on this lens, but it performs much better on the 70-200mm f/2.8.
