I'm pretty sure that's what this is.

Anyway, I haven't found much to shoot lately, so I went for a drive in the gloomy weather. I just wanted to see if there was much migrating yet. I did see more Kestrels this evening than I have all year. This was the only subject that allowed me a halfway decent shot. I had no idea what they were when they landed in the middle of the half flooded gravel road. I got out, took a few steps and got down on my belly. Their eyes look a little dead but I was too lazy to get the flash out.

This was shot at ISO 800, 1/200 sec. @ f8 and E.C. +5/3.

I'm not sure about the correct id here, even in person I sometimes havd difficulty seperating lessers from greaters. Having a side by side comparison or hearing calls is a pretty sure way to differentiate.
