If you jail broke your phone, you could use it with other GSM carries like tmobile since they use sim cards. but it would be kind of pointless as some of the futures would be unavailable that AT&T uses.

Beware, if you use iPhone on T-Mobile you will not have 3g, just EDGE since TMO doesn't broadcast for the CDMA system, and this is for other brands of phones too (Blackberry, etc) that have no hardware to receive in 3g.

Android phones -

Music Wizard Downloader.

You can search for virtually ANY song, then click on the screen, and make your own ringtone out of any segment of the song, within 1 minute.

I have ringtones from Veggie Tales, Bon Jovi, Keith Whitley and Trey Songz now.

The only song I couldn't find was "Skyball Paint" from Sons of the Pioneers.

Quite literally 1,000,000+ songs for free.

I downloaded a program this morning called "Advanced SD Card Manager" that appears to work pretty good. It identifies which files on your phone that can be moved to your sd card and saves on your phones memory. Took me all of about 2 minutes to move 6 files over to the SD card that it identified.

And I have a question about Google Earth. With the Google maps that came with the phone I can layer either Satelite views or terrain. What does Google Earth have that that doesn't and would I have to delete that program before downloading Google Earth? BTW, I have the Droid Incredible. Thanks!!!

Anyone use a good file sharing App? I would like to browse my network at home and share files between my PC's and phone.

I see quite a few listed, but thought I would check here first.

Mostly I would like to share pics from my phone to my laptop over WiFi.

I had tried the free ones, combination of free ones and a coupe low $1.00 apps and I live and swear by Print & Share ($8.00).

It may not look fancy, have pop music playing in the background and look rather blah, but it works and works well. As simple of an app this is you will spend more time in it than you would think. Easy to set up. I bought it mainly for the Wi-Fi printing capabilities with Brother Printers. Brother printers have a hard time hooking up remotely and I forget if it is because they are advanced or not advanced enough. This app was Bing bang boom, done. The app reviews reflected such I bought the $8.00 app after the first three pages of reviewing the reviews. As long as you can get a 3G or Wi-Fi signal, you can access anything you have the IP and access to. Love printing files from home 20 minutes away right to my printer here at work so they are ready and waiting when I get in.

2/3 Shack notable apps on the front page:

Battery Doctor. Really does save battery life by regulating internal processes and displaying how much you have left. I have gained 8 over all battery increase since starting to use the app.

Best Alarm Clock: This thing is like the alarm clock I always dreamed of. Huge display, killer ear piercing sound, weather displayed next to the hour, adjustable snooze and the coolest is when you garb the phone when it is going off and it is dark out, it automatically turns the flash light on when tilted front facing forward.

Still playing Pokerist like a madman.

Gotten way crazy into Google main and sub apps. LIMIT & Dtro started me off with all this Chrome talk and now I am so deeply inter-indexed with Google from browser to everything, makes a guy wonder how this could happen.

Touching up on playing guitar has been something I never find time for with sitting down and reading or attending a class. If you want to get started or freshen up and dust off, Gibson, Touch Chords and Blues and Rags is a combo for free that will get you beyond anything I ever though with a smart phone. Gibson app has very cool need features while the others have what you need to know to play classic and modern rock, blues and country:

Stupid but darn cool app of the day:

Glow Windows Free.

This app adds a neon bars to your home page. Really it does. grin

Just got a Droid last week, lots of cool Apps being mentioned. One I loaded the other day was "wheres my droid" . If you lose your phone with the ringer off, all you do is have somone text wheres my droid to your number and it will ring at full volume. Also heard there is a "gps my droid " app. if you lose it, you can get the coordinates of it. Havent checked into it yet.

Nice avatar, JAC. Go Navy

Thanks, the boats were fun (some of the time) I was in when we were playing with the USSR up north. I spent time in R-5 on the Hunley (AS-31) in Norfolk as well as the Norfolk (SSN-714) in RC div.

I just us my USB to transfer files. most the file transfer stuff you end up having to turn your app on, than go to your web browser and type in an ip to start dropping files. by than you could have all your photos dropped in your phone manual.

a cool photo transfer from phone to phone is bump.

Those who use there Android phones to schedule their lives, check out Business Calender by Netgenius. It is currently in Work-in-progress Beta right now which they keep extending the test period out, so I have no idea when the actual pay version will be released. But even though it's beta it is the best calendar/scheduler I have seen. I've been using it since around Christmas and it hasn't let me down yet, and they keep releasing updates approximately once a week with more and more features. I'm sure it's going to be a $5-$10 app when it is released but will gladly pay it for the ease of use it exhibits.

PI I just use Windows Mobile Device and set to bluetooth and set my home server and network up with bluetooth and sync-back up. If I can, I take advantage of those new features and honestly the USB is soooo old school. grin Like 8-tracks are still worth having over MP3 files.

I come within range and the sync is done automatically. The peer to peer has saved me a couple times by having what I need on my home network and accessing via the app and IP (which is a set and forget one tap, just tap on the saved link). Tap on start and back into the files I need. Actually I use it more for accessing files for personal use like images and video I want to show someone with out storing it on my phone. I figure why store 200-500 images on my phone when a sync and erase is done each time I drive in my driveway. wink

Also VNC or home grouping with your smart mobile device is a great option also.

Shack smile Having a windows mobile phone at one point in time I know what you mean and how easy it is. But bluetooth? why not just wifi? I could browse shared folders from my phone or vice versa with wifi.

but as stated above we are talking about an android phone not a windows;)

and secondly where the heck you been? haven't seen you on the box!

Lol I am talking about using the iPhone with Windows Mobile Device program that works with any of the smartphone or PDA and even GPS units. wink

Print and share is available on both iOS & Android, like almost every app is now. Hence why we started this thread. laugh

Actually I have been busy but the kids had gotten the Xbox taken away for a couple week or more till assignments & grades came up. Dad figured it was best to just put it away instead of playing it in front of them grin. As of Saturday it was hooked back up and maybe will get on her tonight even.
