Here is a quick look at the new Snow shield which will be included with the LX-3TC and LX-5 this year in addition they will each come standard with the 9 amp battery. Picture of the new softpack.

I was wondering how long it would take for Marcum to use Piedmont Anglers "Marcnifier" idea and make it their own. Does it actually magnify or just a clear shield.

It's a clear shield designed to just keep snow off the face of the flasher, it does not magnify (ie. distort) the display.

Snow in the dial "Blows"...so ya...it will come in handy on Bean Can type dial assemblies for sure.

Is an LX5 a worthwhile upgrade from the LX3? Or is there not really that much to gain from one to the next? I'm not talking getting rid of my LX3, just adding a 2nd unit to the list of toys.

IMO yes, the LX-5 does give you more options.

I agree. I love Marcum products, but I hardly think this worth posting as a 2010 Updates. I fully expected to see a flat screen, not some non-magnifying plastic dial cover.

I think it's worthwhile due to the dual beam option on the LX-5, it gives you a nice option when setting up and dialing in your flashr. I find myself using the narrow beam about half the time --- you can't do that with the LX-3 unfortunately.

I bought an LX5 the first year they were produced. I think it's been 4 or 5 years now. I've been waiting for that clear plastic cover since the day I bought it. No more trying to blow the snow off of it.
