Big Minnesota Largemouth Bass?

I caught this over the weekend. This is the biggest Largemouth bass I have caught in MN, but I have caught much bigger growing up in Southern California. Is this a really big Largemouth bass for MN?

ummm....kinda of like at least 5 or more. My brother caught one that was a two pounder and this was much bigger. My balled fist is 4 inches so this fish is fairly big. No offense, but 3 1/2 Really?

to the averege everyday recreational fisherman in MN catching a 2 pounder would be considered huge! for the every day MN Bass Angler id say for me 5 pounds would be big abd 3 pounders are what i consider big as well, the state largemouth bass record is only 8 pounds i have cousins in WIS saying 8 pounds only?

I have caught a 3 pounder after spawn when bass opened and it shurley could have been a 6 but the belly was very skinny so it only weighed 3, not to mention i shore fish 100% of the time so that makes me pretty skillful finding big bass from shore rather than having a boat were i would be more mobile. an averege bass in California would be consider big here in MN! well now that you live in MN expect smaller fish

The MN record is 8 15, one ounce shy of 9. In MN, you hit a 4 lb fish you got yourself a good one, 5 pounds is not too common and a true 6lb is very, very rare. You could bass fish your whole life and not get a 7+ pounder in MN.

That picture has some wierd angles that make it hard to tell the true size of the fish but it looks like its hanging around the 4lb range. Its a catch to be proud of.

It could go five, I've got some vid of a bass I got this year. Simular angles and handholds as the photo above, and my fish went 5 lbs 4 oz. It really doesn't look like a fiver in the video.

It's really hard to tell a bass' size by a photo, they usually make them look smaller...that one looks like a 3#er to me but I wouldn't bet money on it. 5lbs is a very nice fish in MN.

You win a plaid skirt. That fish of hers was 5 1/2, I always thought it looked like a one of those California bass and way bigger than mine...

In a very non-scientific study with a fish of my brothers we found the easiest way to make a bass look larger is to hold it with 2 hands like that, especially if you hold it out towards the camera (it helps that her hands are smaller as well).

To the original post- with my best judgement that looks like a 4-5 lb class fish and I'd probably for once lean towards the heavier side on that estimate. As far as being considered "really big" I wouldn't say so. It's a "nice one" and perhaps considered "big" but to be "really big" it should be flirting with 7.
