now THESE are some serious catfish

I had the privilege of tagging along on a population survey of blue cats on the James River in Virginia. If any of you are planning a cat trip somewhere... I think this would be a great destination! It was unbelieveable

I have never seen so many fish, period, let alone catfish. I think we handled more than 50 fish over 40 pounds, and a couple dozen over 50 pounds, and one behemoth

Simply incredible. Pics are a 50-pound class blue, 40 pound flathead, tubs o' catfish (don't worry, those blues were only on the floor of the boat for a couple minutes - we were netting them faster than the guy could put them in the tank -

as you can see by the boiling water.

And finally, the big tamale, an 80 pound blue. I have never before had my upper body ache from hauling fish into the boat! What an experience
