Ok answer me this why cant I find a replacement glass for my mirror on my 2001 GMC Sierra??? I just need the glass not the whole assembly... Spent an hour at the parts store looking and nothing but the whole thing. Someone out there has to make this part don't they?

I accidentally popped the cover off of me mirror a while back, went back on, but broke off a tab that secured the cover. Dealer offered to fix it for $300 by replacing the entire assembly crazy To fix a broken plastic tab...$300!

I chose the epoxy route. It was 1/100th the cost!

Pretty soon they'll tell you to replace the car when you need an oil change!

Ten years ago that would probably work for a ten year old car.

I don't agree with this statement. Most glass places should have safety mirrored glass. If it's like mine (also a GM) was, there is a plastic holder for the glass. Bring them the plastic part and they will cut it to fit, glue it in there and hand it back.

I have a 01 Suburban - 2 years ago I broke the passenger side mirror glass and popped the plastic piece off. I went in to my local Chev dealer and they sold me the glass and plastic piece. Wasn't anywhere near $300.00.

Go to a glass shop and have them cut you a piece of mirror for it. Had it done for a car about 10 years ago. Cost me akk of $3.

That won't work very well on the passenger side. You know where it says "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" that is because it is a slightly curved mirror allowing you to see more around you, eliminating a large blind spot.
