strait-meat
Hey there was a guy a while back that did a great job at painting his duck boat. I try searching for it but couldn't find it. I think he use a used a rag/sponge on it. Does any one know where those pics would be?Any advice for painting a boat? what steps to take and what paint to use or where to get it--any help would be great! Thanks
kittycatcher16
pick a base color and cut out stencils in marsh grass form. Thats what I did and it looks great. You can also buy stencil kits and camo paint kits. Any true value hardware should have camo spray cans.
strait-meat
Thanks for the advice. The boat has blue paint on it already--do you have to primer it or sand it or just paint over the paint that is already there?
stifler51
id sand it down to give the paint something to stick to. u shouldnt have to prime it since flat colors generally coat pretty nice. It may however take a few base layers coats to get it the way u want it. But hey its just a duck boat, slap some paint on it and lets go hunting. Muthagoose
Always made stencils out of tag board and used rattle can over a good exterior.... Its all I used on the low boat I posted...
jigginjim
I used a dark flat green camo paint, on my duck boat. It blends well with cattails early in the year, plus it gives a get base for marsh grass.
strait-meat
Do you think it would be better to use a Tan for the base or green? Then use some other colors over it?
no bait nate
olive green, boat blends in better with the water when it's dark green.
timk
i started with the dark green as a base and just made random cattail type strips on the sides in brown tan and black and it looks really good don't use a lot of black but some adds a look of shadows
Gordie
I cut my own stencils out for my boat but started gray and darker colors as a back ground kind like the old military pattern then stenciled out the catail camo pattern If you look at my post for getting ready for the season you can see the boat this paint job is also about 8 yrs old. good luck and show us pics when your done.
