Wow, I thought they'd be done acquiring people until at least a couple games into the season. Apparently Wellman will be sitting in Houston until the first injury to a center.

great pick up. his age is up there but he showed last year with the hawks he's still a solid all around center and a great veteren player to have in the locker room. he should definitely help make our team better. nice to see the wild still trying to improve this far into the off season. i like it

the only problem I see with this is how do you expect him to play against San Jose and then be back in St. Paul the next day if he has to take a bus. It works better if there is only one game a week.

Too bad Modano decided to go with the Red Wings instead of the Wild. Would've been fun to watch him here. I think he wants one last run at a cup.

I think Wellman can play center or wing so he can still earn a spot, however if your name is James Sheppard you have to be wondering where you are going to play this year.

James Sheppard is shaking in his boots right now. All signs point to Shep. riding the pine this season, fingers crossed.

I do like the way Wellman plays though, he's pretty quick and scrappy in the corners.

Hard to trade a guy no one wants. I would guess there are teams who would give him another shot but they probably don't want to give anything up for him.
