Sad to hear...

Some of you probably know, but I haven't seen anything on the boards yet.

I was taken back the other day when I recieved an email from a long time friend and bait shop owner Bob Moore.

After over five years of showing anglers the latest tactics in catching their favorite species of fish, scooping minnows and getting stuck by the spines of the bullheads he sells, Bob announced that he will be closing his doors on August 30th of this year. Bob cited health issues as the over riding factor in his decision.

Moore's has been known in the cat fishing circles for it's one stop shop for all cat fishing gear and knowledge since he opened. Something that is difficult to find in the Metro area. It might be the only bait shop that handles bullheads large enough to use for catfish in the state. Although Bob has a full line of cat gear, his shop was far from being a one species location with a full line of gear for the panfish angler, muskie guy and the walleye fisher.

According to Bob, the going out of business sales started, Wednesday, July 21st.

As with all dark clouds, the silver lining here is that Bob will have more than one opportunity per week to be out on the water looking for a bite.

Yes, I was also saddened to hear that the other day. frown

Bob was a sponsor here at one time, and I had a lot of good times over there the past several years hanging out at the bait shop and fishing in his contests.

He will be missed for sure.

Good Luck to you Bob

i contacted the owner of another bait shop in bloomington and he may be buying some of bobs bait tanks and i am going to get the contact info for bobs bullies supplier and give it to the owner of that shop so hopefully we will still have that spot to go when we dont have the time to go catch bait.

Stopped by on my lunch break to check out the G-O-O-B sale.

Woooooo, doggy! Had a hard time not walking out of there with stuff I don't need.

Good luck to Bob in the future and with whatever health problem he or his family is facing.

Sad news indeed. Bob's presence in not only the Cat community but the Metro fishing community will be missed. He's a heck of a guy and I wish him nothing but the best of luck in whatever he does down the road.

Hopefully other tackle stores can jump on board and start carrying bullies.

Last time I bought bullies there I called to make sure he had some as I wasn't able to get any on my own. He had some and held them for me even though there were 3 guys waiting to see if I showed up or not to pick them up. He told me if I was driving all the way from St Cloud he wasn't going to sell them to anyone else unless I was 45 minutes or more late.

Too bad.

Has anyone stopped in there since the sale? I was looking to get my girlfriend an Okuma spinning reel and wondering what he has those Epixors listed at.

I am for sure going to stop in there though before he closes to pick some stuff up and wish him well.

That sucks. I just got hosed at gander mountain for some suckers. 3 bucks a minnow. I usually get bait at sport stop in Shakopee but they were closed. Are there any baitshops that sell bullheads around? I never seem to have time to get any.

Hey billy, met you on tuesday night at the shakopee landing. Did you put a pic of your flat on here yet?

I honesty just read this for the first time. frown Kind of ashocker, but a cloud of question has been transpiring since this spring. Going into June and not even one Moore's contest date was to be had and no chatter about the event(s) either. frown

Just very sad to hear. I wish I had something that would place me down in the area to at least stop in and say "Thank you Bob for all you have done". I have only met Bob a hand full of time and talked on the phone with him many.

Good luck Bob & family! I am hoping the best for you guys has yet to come. smile

Under the circumstances & before it is laid to rest, take a look at Bob's picture page:

Many familiar faces! smile

If any good come of this, Dtro & LFC's dominating presence in the winning circle will forever be shrined and set in-stone.

With category first place win's since 2006 totaled up, does anyone know who was the King? I know Flaco started a mean tear streak in the last couple years and even riverhog.

Man, that stinks. Bob was the man. I bought my first cat gear there when I was in college. Some hooks and sinkers and my Glow Stick that people either love or hate, lol grin

That's a cool picture page. Lots of familiar faces.

Now where do you go for shad for St. Croix sturgeon fishing this fall?
