Line counter

Anyone have any experience with the clip on line counters??? Do they work well with fireline, mono, etc...

Junk! Go buy a cheaper linecounter reel like a Okuma Magda Pro if your not real serious about trolling. Way better than them clip ons. They never read the same with different line types.

I would suggest getting a Diawa Sealine for about $90 if your serious about trolling. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

The Diawa Accudepth is also a good reel at a good price of about $50. I know many guys who have been using them for years with good luck.

If your just getting into trolling the accudepths would be a wise choice. If you get more serious and troll a lot than move up to the black bodied Sealines. The new more expensive ones have the grey body like the accudepths. In my opinion you dont need them. My old style Sealines have been bullet proof and I use them almost daily for boards, riggers, dypsies, 3 ways etc. I have about 12 Sealines and only had 1 clicker go out wich Diawa took care of and I only paid shipping.

i have heard the samething they arent worth buying. Plus now you can get some nice line counters for less then $75

You really cant beat the SG27's for the money, we've had several for years and have never had a problem.

What they all have said... I am partial to the sealines. But they are all better than the clip ons.

Sealines are the only linecounters we run. I use an Accudepth for my back-up.

Like everyone else is saying, they are not the best. Sealines are a great reel but I've had the pleasure of using both some Abu Ambassdour line counters and some Shimano Tekota line counters. Both of these are by far the best, but the Abu is over $100 and the Shimano is roughly twice that. Now if I can only talk the wife into getting me 4 Tekota reels for Xmas this year....

I have a few Accudepth LC reels. They will not break the bank and for me, they have preformed very well.

I am sure one can spend more cash and get a better reel but I have been happy with my less expensive Accudepths.

I have both the sealines and accudepths. With a carbonex drag upgrade they are a very nice reels. I prefer the 17 for their smaller size but the 27 series work well too.

Only complaint with them is they have a tendency to have the drags work loose while in the rod locker.
