spinning reel

the only spinning gear I have anymore that is functional is a Shimano Symetre.

i think it's a 2500?? i'm not positive. Holds plenty of 12 lb. fireline. Used mainly for what you've listed up there, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, smaller cranks, poppers, etc.

It's a great reel though, super smooth, reeeally sturdy, and for the price tag it's probably your best option.

I believe you are looking for a spin/cast style reel (push button), not a spinning reel (bail type).

Not sure about the best of these, but I guess you let price be your guide. I think the style that hang down like a spinning reel are neat. They have a trigger that you pull instead of a push button.

If your looking for a spincaster, the Zebco Omegas are supposed to be pretty darn good. Kinda spendy, at around 50 bucks for a push button reel, but if they work, it'd be worth it. My mom, who's 83 now, went from spincasters to spinning reels about 10 years ago, and loves her Shimanos. She just uses the cheaper ones, in the 30-40 dollar range.

The Pflueger Cetina™ is a fine reel and very well built. All metal construction, good bearings, long pick up pins...great all around reel.

The ABU Abumatic is another very good choice, again highly engineered for durability and ease of use. The stamina drag system on this reel impressed me greatly. Multiple long line pick up pins with rollers on them makes this reel superbraid friendly were most closed spin reels are not.
